I stayed in self catering accommodation at Locharthur House for a period during the winter. The place was extremely damp, to the point where some of my belongings developed mould. There was water running down the walls and doors and around the electricity plug points in the kitchen. There is no effective heating in half the rooms (unless you count a tiny electric fan heater, the kind that costs about £5, attached near the top of the wall - hello, heat RISES!), and the walls and floor appeared to be one thin layer of concrete with no insulation. The ceiling is so thin you can actually hear the owner farting when you're in bed! It was absolutely freezing too - basically I would have been better off camping. I explained these problems and was simply given an ageing dehumidifier which didn't do much to improve the situation.
