Just spent two nights at the Philipburn Country House Hotel and were allocated one of the out side chalet style rooms and we have had a really comfortable stay in lovely surroundings. Service was attentive and helpful and the room was excellent. Thanks to everyone who made us most welcome in particular Susanne who checked us in!

We stayed at the Philipburn for a 2 night stay then returned for another 1 night. We had the Teviot Lodge initially then moved to the Yair Lodge. Both stays were good. Bedroom: Beds had lovely crisp white linen and beds were fresh. Beds were really comfortable and had mattress toppers on them. Bathroom: Bath towels were lovely and fluffy... More

We have just returned from a great two day stay at Philipburn. The hotel is situated in a quiet woodland location. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The staff were friendly and attentive to all our requirements. A special mention for the food, we never met the chef but whoever he or she is they are to be... More

This was our 3rd stay at the Philipburn and we were greeted by the owner/managers as valued returning guests. Our last 2 stays included bringing our dog and on both occasions we were allocated one of the Lodge rooms which were outstanding for our needs (where else could you wake up and see sheep 10 feet from your bedroom window!!... Very nice hotel in its own large property. Excellent accommodations but too many stairs for us elderly people. We had asked for a room in the lodge but were put in a room on the upper floor. I would stay there again but only if I had a ground floor room. Like many old buildings, it has too many stairs.

Dear Friartuck1943, Thank you for your review. The Philipburn sits in its own grounds and enjoys a peaceful and quiet location with rooms in the main house and in the garden. I apologise that your request for a ground floor room in the garden was not met and you were accommodated on the first floor of the hotel. We appreciate... More

Just had a 5 day stay at Philipburn and we were very impressed. We stayed in a De-luxe room which was perfect for a much needed relaxing break. We loved the lounge area which was downstairs from the bedroom, a perfect place to unwind. The food was excellent with generous portions (sorry we never managed the biscuits and cheese girls!)... The price for our stay, during the Scott clan reunion, was double the usual rate and when I arrived and added my wife to the reservation the extra breakfast cost us $60 a day. The breakfast was not worth $10 much less $60, as sunnyside up means hard cooked eggs. Our room also had a dangerous narrow circular staircase from... More

Dear jgscott, You booked via the Best Western extranet a fully flexible tariff for 1 person in a deluxe twin room. On arrival you informed us that the room was actually for 2 persons therefore the tariff was amended to reflect double occupancy not single occupancy. We appreciate our split level rooms do not suit everyone and you were shown... More
