My partner and I stayed here for two nights on a short break. As others have said the hotel is a little 'shabby chic' in parts, but that I think just adds to its charm. The library bar is particularly impressive - very cosy and welcoming. Our room was ok although the bathroom was on the small side. The bed... More

Visited hotel last week for 3 nights on DBB package. Stayed in the Glenmorangie room which is very spacious with four poster bed with excellent views over the town and hills. Bathroom was large and modern even if the design is a bit quirky. Staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. Breakfast offered a good choice with the cooked breakfast... More

A warm welcome awaits you at this friendly, family run hotel. Beautiful bedroom, extremely clean with lovely views and modern bathroom. The Castle has a lovely bar area with comfortable seats and fireplace, making it a nice area to relax in. The evening meal in the restaurant offered a wide choice of starters, mains and deserts and was very enjoyable.... More

Our room was lovely with a shower room and bathroom all modern and pristine. Bedroom had a 4 poster and TV. Good views from bedroom window. Breakfast excellent although bacon resembled leather (too long in the oven). Evening meal good but menu could do with changing daily. Staff delightful. The only thing that could be improved is that instead of... More

We spent three nights in Castle Venlaw, on a break. If you like big, modern, finely finished chain hotels, then this isn't for you. If you like the idea of a country house weekend spent with friendly hosts in a beautiful and restful location, then you've found your spot. We stayed in the Macallan room (all rooms named after whiskies)... More

Nice hotel with friendly and efficient staff. The room was comfortable and quite. The bathroom well equipped but a bit small. The evening meal was very good and the breakfast also with a very good choice

Forget the bland chain hotels. This one is different and well worth the experience. The setting and building are wonderful, the staff are a delight and the rooms and food (dinner and breakfast) very good. Contrary to some other reviews this is not a 'rule mad' hotel and they do offer to help you upstairs with your luggage. Give it... More

Tot celebrate our Wedding Anniversary I treated my husband and myself to a night here, on a DBB getaway deal, which was excellent value. On arrival we decided to take a drink outside and sit in the sunshine. I was delighted to find they sold small bottles of Prosecco (2 glasses) which was served in a mini ice bucket. Lovely.... More

We stayed at the castle as an overnight on our way up to the Highlands. The castle is set on a wooded hillside above the main town so it is very quiet - but the walk through the woods into town only takes about 20 minutes and isn't hard going. Our room was very comfortable and the castle itself is... More
