Not quite the boutique hotel it potrays itself as - but very comfortable and relaxing with fantastic food and very friendly and helpful staff. Happy to take well behaved pets and lots of good walking nearby. Rooms are comfortable and spacious - but a bit old fasioned, although there are DVD players and a selection of DVDs! Good location for... more

Our event was a superb evening for Borders Forest Trust supporters. The staff were helpful at all stages, from planning to the event itself. The champagne and the canapes were superb. The facilities for presentation were also very good. We would like to complement the hotel management and staff on helping us to create a lively atmosphere on the evening.... more

We booked a night in the The Glenturret Suite in April and have just got round to writing the review. We had a first class stay. The hotel, location, surrounding countryside, food and service could not be faulted. This is not a big 5 star chain hotel so do not expect that. What it is, is a relaxed and very... more

"Staff is very friendly, food is excellent, room is gorgeous, the castle is very quiet, mattress is very comfortable, with no problem of heating, neither of the room or of the hot water to take a bath or a shower. Our overall experience was great and we can only recommend this castle hotel for a romantic break and only 30... more

We booked the Glenturret suite for a romantic weekend for a special anniversary. Although the 'suite' is basically one large room, it was beautifully furnished and had views in two directions. There were flowers and champagne awaiting us, (the website says this costs £65 but ours were complimentary). The champagne was excellent and two weeks later I still have the... more

The Glenturret Suite is our largest bedroom and is used as our romantic suite or honey moon suite. It was with great disappointment to hear that you did not enjoy the room as much as what you had anticipated. This was a real shock as it contradicts all of our other customers' feedback who find the room sumptuous and extremely...

We spent at short break at Castle Venlaw 25th-27th February to do a bit of sight seeing and to relax. Castle Venlaw is at the top of a steep incline and would not be suitable for walking up if you were to go into Peebles ( less than 1mile) for the evening. Check in was painless and we were shown... more

Thank you for your review and the praise you gave Castle Venlaw for the experience you have had with us. It was disappointing to read that we have let you down during your second dinner. I have taken your feedback very seriously and have discussed it with the front of house and kitchen teams to ensure that such a situation...

cajoled into going to dinner earlier than we wanted stared at and and repeatedly asked if we had finished yet inedible overcooked and soggy duck- quite a remarkable feat meantime a pair of fellow diners were being fawned on and treated like royalty from overheard conversation it was clear they were in "the business" and therefore important "instant" porridge at... more

My wife and I stayed for a weekend just before my birthday in January 2009 and we found everything to be first class. Our room was very spacious with a sofa in front of the television and was very clean and well-appointed. The food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent and the quality of the service throughout the two... more
