We had high expectations of Cringletie House and we were not disappointed. The staff were about as good as you can get, helpful, friendly, polite and respectful. Nothing was too much trouble. Whatever the time, a request for coffee was answered in under 5 minutes! Can't be bad. The food was just superb. A small menu made with fresh local... more

I was drawn to this hotel after reading reviews, particularly of the food. I was not disappointed. The food was delicious, my only complaint was that the menu was too repetitive, especially as I was staying for three nights. The servings weren't huge, but there were many courses to keep you going. It was more about quality than quantity. The... more

The Cringlette does hype itself up a lot on the website.... no doubt about that.. It is also a very, very expensive hotel especially for this area of Scotland. The point is - Is it worth it? Is it Value for Money? Well the answer to that is No…I am afraid it is not Value for Money Not in our... more

We did not stay but called in for afternoon tea.We waited quite some time to be served and when the waiter came he said there was only chocolate cake left so we ordered that and scones.Eventually it came with 3 little pieces of chocolate slab cake and one tired looking piece of lemon cake. The scones were so hard we could... more

We have visited this hotel a few times before to enjoy their magnificent afternoon tea and decided to stay for a special event because of the very pleasing atmosphere of the hotel. We stayed in the Selkirk Suite which has a state of the art bathroom, wonderful large bed (6ft wide) and a nice lounge. All 3 rooms have a... more

After reading the rave reviews, and the hotel's hype - we were expecting to be wowed. We weren't. Yes, it is a beautiful building - but the decor felt coporate (for example, etched coporate logo on the shower doors) and furntiture packed into the poky sitting room - when it should have been comfty and spacious. And the top level... more

We stayed six days in this gorgeous residence. Mr. Jeremy exquisitely greeted us and provided us a tour of the property. The room was graciously furnished, cozy and extremely clean. The staff was very knowledgeable and they helped us immensely with suggestions of activities and directions. We are very grateful to Mrs. Johanna for several tips she gave us. The... more

My husband and I were booked to stay at another hotel in Peebles but upon arrival we were told that the hotel could not accommodate us due to unforseen circumstances. They had, however made arrangements for us to stay at Cringletie House. From the moment we arrived at Cringletie we were made to feel so welcome. Our accommodation was in... more

Cringletie is an old manor house in the Scottish Borders. It is situated on beautiful grounds that can be walked for hours on end. The staff is friendly and attentive, but unobtrusive. The only sour note of the trip was our room, situated in the former servant quarters on the top floor of the property. The room had rather low... more

The hotel and food are stunning but the really amazing feature is one member of staff - BELIEVE IT OR NOT! Lovely country house/castle with great restaurant staff and amazing French cuisine - never tasted scallops like them! Maybe some housekeeping problems ascould have been a little more 'sparkly' but clean, fresh and bright with high quality towels and bed... more
