My friend and I have just returned from a Monday-Friday break at the Waverley. The bedroom which was a twin room on the ground floor which we asked for at the time of booking, was immaculate and spacious not what we were expecting after reading previous reviews, there was also a convector heater to take the chill of the room... After reading some of the poor reviews, and looking at some awful photographs of the hotel, we arrived with some trepidation on a Shearing's bus last Monday for a four night stay, but were pleasantly surprised on arrival. Our room (319) was very comfortable and had views, over the three parked buses, to the gardens and the countryside beyond including... More

We stayed Mon to Fri and paid extra for a premier room. Room was lovely, bed very comfortable. Always good value, meals were good and James the resident entertainer was hilarious, we loved his wit and banter. We stay frequently at different hotels and would recommend them to anyone. You are not paying 5 star money so don't unfairly expect... More

We have just returned from a Fri to Mon stay with Shearings, I sat down to write a review but decided to look at some of the terrible / poor reviewers first as I like to keep in touch with people from other planets. Well our food was excellent, hot, tasty and the service from Attila was very good. The... More

Just returned from a long weekend at the Waverley Castle and I am sure I have lost weight. Third floor room and no lift. 64 steps. No offer of help with luggage. Food average, small portions. Room comfy. Two heaters with clicking thermostats all night though.

Just returned from a long weekend break with National Holidays. Room was clean and bathroom recently refurbished. Food was fabulous with lots of choice. Staff were very efficient. I would definitely visit this hotel again. The only downside was the out of order lift. Being given a 3rd floor room gave me lots of exercise!! Hopefully it will be fixed... More
