We booked a table at this popular resteraunt and was glad that we did. Our 84 year old requested a smaller portion of fish and chips and was provided with a smaller plate. That was appreciated and the 3 of us all had a dessert too. We loved the banter with Ann who is a special lady with fantastic customer... More

Friendly staff, large room, central location and tasty food. Nice decking bit out the back to enjoy an afternoon beer and wonderfully dog friendly. But a bit shabby, needing redecoration and new stair carpet. The bedroom floor leaned inwards which was kinda quirky. Breakfast a bit mediocre. Main downside was hotel took first night prior to arrival then full amount... More

A friendly welcome and a good breakfast chef does not disguise the fact that the hotel is in desperate need of internal refurbishment. The stairs and landings were in poor condition, especially the carpets. We were in room 6 on the top floor. The bathroom suite was fine. However, the window was so high it could not be looked through,... More

I decided it was time to celebrate the opening of the new Borders Railway: I travelled down from Dundee; then on to Tweedbank Station and walked the remaining couple of miles in sunshine into Melrose. I made straight for The King's Arms where I'd enjoyed many previous visits admittedly a good few years ago. But to-day was special: and The... More

We were greeted by a friendly lady and made to feel welcome which is always a good start. As with many small hotels, the staff are very hardworking and manage to do several jobs at the same time with ease. We were directed to our room which was easy to find on the top floor. The upper floors and our... More

We spent three nights in the King's Arms coinciding with the opening of the new Borders Railway into Edinburgh. My husband knew this hotel from many years ago when he was a regular guest. Our room was compact, but worked for us. As others have noted, the linens were crisp and pressed, and the housekeeping tidy. Our bathroom had all... More

Stopped here for an evening meal very glad we did . Staff were really friendly and polite and the food was delicious. Very reasonably priced and a great choice on the menu. Recommended to all if you want good decent food with happy staff serving it. Xx

This hotel is in a very good location on the main street. Melrose Abbey is a short walk away, and if you need to pick up some snacks, fruit etc. for your travels there is a Coop grocery and a bake shop just down the street. The parking area for the hotel was not the best as it was small... More

Just back from a couple days stay at this hotel, considering it is an old pub/building it was immaculate. The staff were very very friendly and the food was amazing. Definitely worth popping into if you are in the area. We will be back.

Stopped here for lunch. Soup and sandwich was reasonably priced although the sandwich was very basic. However the macaroni cheese at £10.95 was over priced, tasteless and full of fat. This dish did include wedges which were hot but tasteless. Service was prompt and friendly. The bar area was pleasant but the rest of the hotle could benefit from refurbishment.
