Arrived here on a very cold evening and warmed up quickly thanks to the open fire. A warm welcome also from the cheery Staff. Our order was taken and food arrived quickly given that most of the tables were occupied and also people upstairs in the Function Room. Both our dishes were well presented and very tasty also a very... More

We stayed in Melrose at Harmony Cottage for 7 nights and on 5 nights we had a evening meal at the Kings Head the food was excellent with a good range of starters and main courses and the staff was really great and so helpful.

I know a pre-set Christmas meal for a night out with work colleagues is not the fairest way to judge a hotel's normal standard, but my experience in December was so awful I won't be returning, ever. I took the two vegetarian options but the soup looked and tasted suspiciously like lamb broth (I didn't finish it as there were... More

The standard of room was quite shabby and very dated. The bedding was long past it's replacement date as very worn and bobbled. See attached pictures. Food was quite good at night. Bit strange at breakfast where the waiter just stairs at you eating from behind the small bar reception area. On the whole with a few improvements this place... More

I stayed one night while my husband was in the local hospital and I booked a single room at the Kings Arms at the last minute. The room was clean and comfortable and although I had booked a single room I had a double bed. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits in the room so a cuppa anytime you want... More

The building was established in 1795 or thereabouts so whilst an effort has been made to "boutiquify" the decor it's a bit of an uphill struggle and in places the hotel is a little shabby. However the rooms are comfortable and clean with plenty of hot water, a welcome tray and equipped with a hair dryer. The staff are fantastically... More

I've said all I can in my review title. Having said that due to the staff I'd be willing to go back again. Food was good and we both slept well as the bed was comfy.Melrose is lovely with a good variety of shops considering the size of the town.

The hotel is quite old, so don't expect a boutique room, but it was very comfortable and we had a large bathroom. Our room overlooked the main street, but was quiet, so it must be well insulated. The car park is very small and a difficult turn in from the road. The receptionist was very good and showed us to... More

We went into the Kings Arms after the Townhouse was full and not prepared to make room for 7 diners, but the Kings Arms immediately told us their restaurant was full, but they would accomodate us upstairs if we didn't mind waiting - after about 10 minutes, time to get a drink from the bar, they called us- the table... We chose this hotel as it was the first time staying in a hotel with our young dog. It is described as luxurious, refurbished and dog friendly. It's not!. Our room was large, above the basin in the bathroom there must have been a leak from upstairs, the ceiling was discoloured and sagging. The floor between the twin beds was... More
