Just returned from a long weekend at the Kings Arms. The big down side was the heating - none in breakfast room and bar and room radiators did not work but were substituted with portable electric radiators. Not sufficiently adequate but served the purpose. Needs a huge amount of money spent on the Hotel in general, decorating, re-carpeting, heating system... more

I knew this place from several years ago when it was a vibrant well kept Inn. The first thing that greeted us was a sign stating the new awners could not accept credit cards as they did not yet have the facility. There were no real ales or strong lagers axailable. The stairs carpet was filthy and wallpaper was off... more

We visited Melrose for a few day rest and relaxation, and booked a break at the King's Arms. I have to say the staff were kind and considerate, the food excellent with a good range of drink behind the bar. The accomodation was very good, clean and well maintained, although the room cood have been a little warmer {our Scottish... more

I stayed here while walking St Cuthbert's Way. A great location in the middle of the town. My room was a little old fashioned, but I've seen much worse. The food was good too. more

Stayed there one night - it was a cold night, about 0 degrees celcius and not once did the heater ever turn on in our room. I tried playing with it and the knob was in the "ON" position but there was no heat at all. The room stank of smoke and there were brown and black stains and lots... more

Myself and some mates stayed at the hotel for a weekend in early March and found the management and staff to be very friendly, with the publican keeping the bar open for us for a wee bit after closing time on a couple of occassions. The rooms were clean, the food was good, and it was a very enjoyable experience.... more

I stayed at the Kings Arms on the 2nd and 3rd of March with a party of 5. We were in Melrose for a days fishing and stayed at the King Arms upon the recommendation of Tweed guide. I found both the fishing and the general experience of staying at the Kings Arms excellent. The hotel had a warm and... more

The Kings Arms used to be a vibrant town pub in Melrose catering for the local population and tourists with excellent food and a warm friendly atmosphere. There has been a change in management in the last year and unfortunately not for the better. Now unfriendly; never see the owners; although the bar staff do their best. Real ale badly... more
