We recently stayed at this hotel primarily to fish on the river Tweed. The hotel is in a fabulous setting with beautiful grounds and views over the river. The room was large and airy with every facility we could have wanted. The food in the restaurant was fabulous and not at all expensive. The staff were friendly, helpful and informed.... more

Dryburgh Abbey Hotel is a lovely building in a fantastic location. Unfortunately my wife an I chose it as the location for our Christmas getaway as it boasted a "Traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings". The package was for three nights but we booked an extra day on each end to make the break special. The hotel rooms were... more

We are very specific about our cuisine and 'fine dining' and whilst we are sorry that this Reviewer was disappointed with their meal, our many other guests were extremely satisfied - indeed, we receive many repeat bookings for our Christmas package and Christmas lunches. The management of Dryburgh Abbey Hotel are committed to the highest levels of customer service and...

Really enjoyed my weekend spent at the Dryburgh. Such a wonderful tranquil location and everything was just perfect. I made a quiet proposal to my girfriend while there and she accepted so I will always have a fond memory of the place. First class service and food. I will be back. Thank you Dryburgh. more

We made our way to Dryburgh, primarily because Mark Greenwood had recently taken over in the kitchen. We were not disappointed. Our first night Mark was not in the kitchen, but he had clearly left very competent chefs in charge. Our second night, when Mark was 'in the house', was superb. The hotel was warm, welcoming and beautifully located. The... more

We felt very let down. All pricing seems to be per person not per room so you pay double if your wife/partner chooses to travel with you! £145 for one night b&b in a rather tired hotel miles from anywhere is expensive! Our advice - don't bother. There are much better value hotels in the Melrose area. more

Our staff, our website and all our printed material make it clear that, understandably, we do price per person. Whilst we strive to ensure that every guest at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel receives first class service we do feel that this Reviewer has rather missed the point of a Country House Hotel.

Stayed at the Dryburgh for 1 night and was impressed. Although the room I had was a bit dated, it was clean, tidy, spacious and had a great view across to the abbey. The shower worked great (always an essential in my view), the TV was old (but worked perfectly well) and had a freeview box attached to it, but... more

My wife and I have stayed at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel for the last two years and spent over a week there each time. I can honestly say that we are unable to fault the Hotel in any way. The service has been superb, the food brilliant and the ambiance and tranquility second to none. We were therfore in a state... more

We appreciate the observations made in this review. And, whereas we regret that the quality of the 'fine dining' cuisine to which we aspire may not be appreciated by everyone, it is reassuring that we do have many satisfied guests who are willing to defend the integrity of the Hotel when they feel other guests' comments, and conduct, are unreasonable....

I booked one of the advertised weekend Romantic Breaks. My husband and I had a truly terrific stay - the room had stunning views of the river tweed and the staff could not have been more friendly - even providing comlimentary truffles and champagne. The dinner was exceptional on the Friday (eight course fine dining) and on the Saturday night... more

We stayed here in September 08-a lovely setting and the hotel had lovely grounds-but for us Im afraid that was us. We are normally quite fussy about hotel rooms and we do like a bit of luxury but can cope with an average room if the rest of the hotel and service make up for it. Sadly in this case... more

The management of Dryburgh Abbey Hotel are committed to providing a memorable experience for our guests in terms of the Hotel setting, our accomodation and the dining. We do address any issues raised very carefully as adverse comment can damage both the integrity of the Hotel and the morale of our staff. Whilst we are in the process of redecorating...

We have just stayed at The Dryburgh Abbey Hotel for our 40th Wedding Anniversary . We booked a suite Room 316 with dinner at £280.00 . our bedroom was quite cold, the bathroom lovely and warm, and our sitting room was also cold . In the bar before dinner the white wine was room temperature not chilled. Our table for the... more

Whereas we take every individual complaint very seriously, we would draw your attention to the comments from 'dfarmer70' (above) which addresses this review. We fully appreciate that staying at Dryburgh represents the chance to fully relax, and to 'wine and dine' in convivial surroundings. However, in fairness to our guests and our staff, the management of the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel...
