We stayed here in early June for an overnight stop en route to Aberdeen. Melrose is a lovely Borders town, and Burt's was perfectly fine for the purpose but seriously overpriced @ £140 for a double room B&B. The room was fine, but modest - nothing special. At today's rates for a small hotel in a market town like this,... More

Friend strongly recommend Burt's. We were there to fish for a couple of days. It's ideally suited for visiting the Borders. The staff are very friendly and helpful but the place needs a bit of a facelift. And the service needs to move past 'enthusiastic amateur'. For example, our first night in the restaurant we ordered the chicken liver parfait... More

Burt's Hotel sits elegantly in the small market square in the centre of Melrose. Clean white paintwork is edged with charcoal grey trim and neat gold lettering. It seems to welcome you even before you enter this fine listed 18C building. Nor does the tasteful interior disappoint, while my allocated single bedroom had numerous thoughtful touches within its high specification.... More

I stayed in the hotel as part of a group visiting nearby country houses. The staff were extremely efficient, helpful & friendly, the hotel had a warm feel to it, the owner & his wife were 'hands - on' and the food was excellent. Melrose is a pretty little town and seems to be a good centre for walking. What... More

We stayed at Burt's Hotel for 3 nights in May. A warm welcome, all the staff were friendly and helpful with advice on what to see and do in the area. Burt's has lots of charm and is in a great location in the centre of Melrose. Our room was nicely decorated and warm and cosy. Breakfast in the dining... More

We had a lovely stay at Burt's Hotel for 3 nights. Our room was nicely decorated with comfy twin beds, bottled water replaced every day, fresh towels each day, too. Breakfast was served in the very pleasant dining room by friendly, efficient young waiters and waitresses. Had dinner in bar on first evening which was good. Burt's is centrally placed... More

A luxury stay in a really nice hotel in the middle of Melrose, room decor was nice and perhaps the best part was the fine dinning experience, but firstly first point of contact with the young receptioness was very welcoming, room and settling in was first class, an overnight stay which will be repeated, hopefully sometime soon

Burt's Hotel provided a very comfortable and welcoming overnight stay in the Scottish Borders. Set in the beautiful village of Melrose, Burt's exudes class and an engaging atmosphere the moment you walk through the door. My room was very well appointed, warm and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The hotel bar perfect and the restaurant was full... More

1. If upgrading a booking that has two rooms, upgrade both or neither. Felt it unfair one of us got the single booked (old fashioned but comfortable) and the other got anew upgrade to a double, superior in every way. Bad form, room booking person. 2. Not sure I saw a single member of staff smile the entire visit. A... More

The wind however did not detract from the extremely warm welcome we had at Burt's. I have stayed here a couple of times in the past, it is how I believe a hotel in th Borders should be like, tastefully and warmly decorated and bustling with locals and visitors. The staff was professional and friendly, the meals at the bar... More
