We were so tired after the M6, and Alan greeted us wonderfully. His breakfast was 6-star, and his personality similar. It makes such a difference when the host has panache and the establishment lives up to description. If you're chatting with him get him to tell you the story about J.D. Wetherspoon, and also Alan's own attempt to make the... More

My sister, niece and I stayed here for a night when we were walking the Borders Abbeys Way. We got the warmest welcome from owner Alan, which after a long days walk, was really apreciated. He really could not have done more for us, including recommending good places for dinner. Breakfast was very good, exactly what we ordered! And definitley... More

I stayed two nights, but quickly wished I could stay longer. From the first second I entered the house to the last, Allan, the host, did everything to make me feel at home. Warmhearted, attentive and more than friendly he made sure that I felt spoilt during my stay. My room was excellent, spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished with all the... More

Got back on Sunday after spending a few days in Hawick at the Teviotside Guest House. It started snowing shortly after we arrived & was so glad the room was warm and cosy. It didn't feel like we were staying in a b&b but were staying with a friend. The shower in our room (1) was amazing! Breakfast was good... More

First review I've felt compelled to post. Owner was away at some musical event. Clothes airer in dining room. Room badly required attention. Cobwebs, cracks and inches of dust on top of wardrobe. Bathroom tiles at heated towel rail filthy. Light switches filthy. Bedding obviously was unironed and pillowcases were marked with what I would swear was mascara. Actually convinced... More

Me and my work friends came to Hawick to work(obviously) we were staying for 3 weeks and every morning we would get up at 6 o'clock in the morning, and every morning the lovely host Alan would get up and do us a bacon roll or some lunch to set us of for the day. Then when we came back... More

I was in Hawick for business, Alan was a very welcoming, friendly guest who treated us to very nice breakfasts and a glass of whiskey after work! The rooms were very clean and comfortable, I'm definitely staying here again next time I'm in Hawick.

The title doesn't refer to me but rather the people who had been asked to stand in for the absent owner. "I have been left in the ****", "I am not in a good place", not comments that a guest would expect to hear from their host but this was a constant theme during our short stay. For whatever reason.......... More
