Stayed here twice recently. Received an extremely warm welcome both times. Was very disappointed first time, hotel needs revamping which is ongoing, and my room had a mouldy shower and broken mirror on the door, but the bed was clean and comfortable. Was dreading dinner but was too tired to go elsewhere. Glad I stayed because I was presented with... More

I have been doing a lot of work around the borders since November 2014 and have stayed in various BnB's and hotels, I much prefer the Abbotsford because the staff have always made me feel welcome and the food is AMAZING. as long as i can get a room, i will book the Abbotsford Arms Hotel everytime.

stayed for one night, the room was ok bed was really comfy, the toilet wasn't upto much - paint coming off the wall, shower looked dirty and the mirror was ready to fall off the wall. The handle on the door was ready to come off and didn't feel like the door locked properly. In the morning we went down... More

A pub/hotel in a quiet location but conveniently in the middle of town. Hotel is being refurbished so a bit shabby in parts -. but clean and comfy. Food is good, the evening meal was not 'fine dining' - but exceedingly good {a fine chef}, breakfast also very good. Bar was a friendly mix of locals and other people staying... More

I stayed at the Abbotsford Arms last week and I admit I was nervous having read some reviews. Reception to check in is in the bar area. I was greeted warmly and was taken upstairs and given the choice of 2 rooms. The stair carpet is not the best but I was informed that there is a new red one... More

The Abbotsford Arms seems to be suffering from a lack of investment and drive from the management - many reviews over the last 12 months have said that the hotel is undergoing refurbishment but I saw no progress and had the same "yes, we know that x, y & z need to be done but we haven't the time". They... More

I chose to stay in this hotel as I was visiting friends in Galashiels and wanted a bit of space rather than staying at their home. My first impression of the hotel from the outside were great, what a lovely building, old building but I quite like a place with a history. There is train works just opposite the hotel... More

We stayed in the hotel Friday and sat. Staff extremely pleasant and made sure our stay was just perfect. Food was amazing 5* quality. My favourite starter was haggis tower with a whiskey sauce so nice had it 2 nights in a row. Chicken sizzler first night amazing. 2nd night chefs special green tai chicken with noodles and this was... More

When we were shown to our room I almost turned round and left, but having been asked for payment when we registered it was going to be a problem. The room was over the front door of the hotel. Always a problem on a Saturday night. It was the shower that was nearly the thing which pushed us over the... More
