My husband and I stayed here for one night en route to Mull. We had a late arrival, due to flights and a drive up from Glasgow, but a friendly welcome once we managed to get there. The room was large and airy with a lovely four poster bed and a fantastic view over the harbour - plus a decanter... More

This guest house is a great find in the coastal town of Oban. At the top of a hill, it has glorious views which you can see from your room if you ask for a sea view room, or from the deck if you don't. The room we had had a large extremely comfortable bed, a small antechamber with tea... More

We had not booked anywhere in Oban so just drove around trying to find a place with vacancies. Luckily we happened upon Thornloe. We were lucky enough to get room 6 which had a fantastic view of the harbour. It was stunning. The room was very comfortable with extras I don't expect in a B&B like bathrobes, welcoming sherry, and... More

Stumbled upon this gem whilst walking into town from the leisure centre car park on a sunny Saturday. We had planned to look for overnight accommodation and the view from the front garden was breathtaking so we decided to enquire about availability. A very friendly welcome from Val and we had no hesitation in booking a double room at the... More

Beautiful view from the deck before we even got inside. Lovely big bed with nice bedding. We were offered a room with a sea view, at extra cost, but declined as we felt it wasn't worth it when we were asleep. Maybe we should have taken up the offer, as the view from the guest house is wonderful. Breakfast was... More

We really enjoyed our stay and benefited from the suggestions from the Thornloes. The walk into shops/restaurants is two minutes but the hillside setting quiet and restful. We had a small room, with a hillside view of the neighborhood. Beautiful front garden.

We recently stayed at the Thornloe Guest House in Oban. We got a booking late in the day through the Visit Scotland Visitor Information office. Oban was busy with lots of tourists and luckily we were able to get two rooms. Our room (#3) had a beautiful view of the harbour. The bed was comfortable, the ensuite bathroom was roomy,... More

We were lucky enough to score one of the rooms with the beautiful view over Oban harbour. We found the hosts very pleasant, the breakfast more than adequate and the location great - short walk into the town. It is downhill, and it's quite steep, so walking back could be a bit of a challenge for some. We had a... More

A fabulous guest house situated up on the hill(beware walking up the hill can be steep) in Oban with spectacular views over the bay and Islands very comfortable bedroom with shower en suite with a complementary sherry available as were tea and coffee with 'scottish' biscuits. The attention to detail was fabulous -I have to mention the handmade soaps and... More

The hotel itself is very nice, and location is perfect - 10 minutes to the ferry, 3 minutes to the nearest restaurant, but it seems that we just got unlucky with the room. It was room 1, and if you want to experience all the good things previous reviewers wrote about (sea view, a four-poster bed, a spacious room, etc),... More
