Loved our 2 night stay here. As mentioned in other reviews, Room #1 has that stunning sitting area and view thru beautiful windows facing the water. Very comfortable. Relatively short walk into town, if you're a walker. Host was experiencing some medical/hospital issues so normal breakfast wasn't available at that time but they provided a number of quick munchy items as a fill in. Nice deck out front with chairs. Our first night, we just sat out there with wine and cheese and watched the sun set. Beautiful!

We were in room #1 and what a view. We had two very comfortable chairs that we sat in as we looked right out at the harbor. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. Parking was right in front of the guest house, very convenient. WiFi was very good. Iona was the perfect hostess. She was having some health issues and was not serving breakfast while we were there. However, she did have oatmeal cups, pastry, granola bars and juice in the room that we could eat for breakfast. Location is excellent. Easy walk into town. Having the esplanade right across the street, made for some lovely evening walks.

Iona transformed a travel disaster into a delightful visit. Clean, updated rooms situated directly across from the sea. Quiet and comfortable. Clean linens, superior beds, and bedding. Ideal place to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset over the water. It's a £5 taxi to the busy part of town and ferry terminal. We had difficulties with the booking through our agent. Iona went above and beyond to rectify the situation. Many thanks for your personal service and a wonderful stay. We will return!

There's always that little hidden gems that you happen to stumble upon without even knowing. Places that you can walk by and observe from a distance. In many cases you walk by, admire from a far, take a picture and move on. Well, this wasn't the case. Mackays Guest House, right in the heart of Oban picturesque waterfront. A beautiful property run by Iona Mackechnie who was the sweetest and loving soul. A warm Scottish smile greeted us upon arrival. Checking in was quite a breeze. Once inside, the foyer with its soothing calm beachy vibe and tartan pattern. Beautiful cool tones on the walls and throughout the property. We had room number 1 which was one of the ones downstairs. Once you walk in, it's pretty massive and spacious. Modern vibe with its cleans line and cool color palettes perfectly suitable for the sea. Nice comfortable bed awaits you as well as two plush comfortable sling back chairs with the million dollar view of the waterfront. Heater fireplace in front of the bed for those chilly nights which is a given. As well as the flatscreen television above. You also have your en-suite which is nice as a lot of places don't offer them. It's pretty spacious with plenty of room for sharing. Walk in shower, all your toiletries offered. To top it off, the warm Scottish welcome of their traditional drink the irn-brn soda and tea cakes were on the dresser. What a sweet little welcome treat. Location is just minutes from the beach. Walking distance from the main town where plenty of restaurants and shops are. The ferry and train station. There's parking available right in front but based on first come. Street parking also available along the front but not quite sure what the restrictions are. Mackays Guest House is a must if you're looking for a quaint weekend getaway or for a longer stay for that nice R&R break. Perfect location, friendly face, beautiful view of the waterfront, minutes from town and restaurant. An overall amazing experience. Highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed in this stunningly beautiful B & B for our 1st night before moving on to Ullapool the next day. We had the most beautiful room with fabulous views overlooking The Bay of Oban!! The beautiful touches in the room were absolutely gorgeous. You can tell as soon as you walk into Mackay's it is the most beautifully kept place, just immaculate!! Our room was huge even though it was described as a large double. The lady who owns the hotel has the most gorgeous name of Iona, doesn't do cooked breakfast but if requested she will make up a little wooden hamper with warm pastries, yoghurts fresh fruit and a percolator with fresh ground coffee. I am not a fan of a cooked breakfast breakfast so this little hamper was just perfect. If you are going to Oban and looking for somewhere where you definitely not be disappointed, please give Mackay's B & B a try it is an absolute gem. My husband and I will definitely stay here again next time we travel to Oban. Thank You so much Iona for your hospitality. ☺️☺️

We had an amazing stay. Our room had a great view of Oban Bay. There were many lovely little touches like a decanter of Sherry on the dresser, cold water in the refrigerator, and coffee and tea. The bathroom was very spacious as well. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are heading to Oban.

We didn't know what to expect, but the room was fabulous! Large and very clean, with a huge bathroom, it overlooked the bay with nice touches such as binoculars and a decanter as well as porridge and some teacakes. 2 cans of irn- bru rather than 1 would have been an improvement! Comfortable chairs and a table meant sitting in the window to look at the view was a pleasure. Iona, the owner, was cheerful and gave advice on trips. The bathroom was really excellent with good toiletries in large refillable bottles. Location was super, and we thought the building was absolutely wonderful. Very good place to stay, especially when you compare it to other places. There were restaurants and takeaways close by- we didn't try the breakfasts.

Great 1 night stay. We managed to check in early & leave the car in the free carpark to allow us to explore. The room was very big with a large bathroom with shower. Tv, fridge & snacks (irn bru & Tunnock's teacakes) in the room for use. The room was very clean and comfortable. Reasonably priced. Good location; beautiful views of the bay & a short walk from the town and ferry terminal/train station. Would return.

What a fantastic stay we had at Mackays Bed & Breakfast, myself and my wife stayed as part of our Honeymoon. We were greeted with a warm welcome from Iona, the owner who put us in room 4 which has a breathtaking view across the bay and harbour area. The room was spacious, well decorated and the bed was Very comfortable. Bathroom facilities were also spacious and clean. Our pre ordered breakfast was deliver to our room each morning, which we ate at the dining table in the room. Breakfast was excellent and good portion size. We are already planning another trip back this year and can’t recommend this place highly enough.
