Finding the hotel was already a problem, since it was sold to us as the Town House hotel. Its name, however, is still the Rowan Tree, and we needed a trip to Oban's tourist information centre to sort things out. This pleasant place, located close to the quais on the main shopping street, offers good if simple food and pleasant service. The rooms were a little outdated, but spacious and well painted. This may have changed since I stopped here about 3 years ago. Generally it's a pub. The room that we had was adequate. The room overlooked the main street which is very busy and hence noisy. We stayed at the Rowan Tree Hotel Oban in Scotland for one night in August 2005. It is just an ordinary pub. I didn't enjoy our stay, noisy rooms, no remote for the television, less than inviting bathroom and a very ordinary dingy dining room. I wouldn't stay there again. more
