Four cyclists starting and finishing a Hebridean adventure could not have had a more welcoming and comfortable stay in Oban. The view from the breakfast table provided a fitting prospect and reflection on our journey. Fiona, thanks for your fine hospitality.

Only stayed for one night but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very friendly owner and quiet location yet only a (steep) short walk from the station/ferry terminal. Thoroughly recommended!

Fionna Campbell is the best example of a good host. The accomodations were very comfortable, the breaskfast offfered a good variety and well prepared. The stay was throughly enjoyable. A place will we recommend and hope to return to in the future. We did enjoy the climb down up each day and the view is breathtaking from the tower.

Have just watched the prog on Ch4 about trip advisor. Thank you so very much for your lovely review. I'm aware that TA is a double edge sword but so far I've been very fortunate and I really do appreciate you taking the time to post a review and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and breakfast. This is a very nice B&B with new rooms, great hospitality and an excellent bathroom! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend Avoncraig to anyone visiting Oban. Just be prepared to climb up the steep hill leading up to the place :-)

Thank you very much for your lovely review of Avoncraig. You were most welcome here and I'm pleased you found everything was so good. My partner, Stuart, was especially pleased with your comment on the bathroom as it's all his work. It is a steep climb up the hill and I do warn guests without transport. Thank you again for... More

I couldn't find anything wrong with this accommodation and it's owners. Fiona and Stuart were lovely, welcoming hosts. Stayed in the double room with my Dad. Although the "view" was disappointing (we were warned via an honest email from Fiona) we had everything we could have asked for. Breakfast was greatly done. When we had to leave early for some... Thank you so much for such a detailed and glowing review. I'm glad you enjoyed your picnic breakfasts and found the beds comfortable. The en-suite shower room is new and it's nice to know you appreciated it. I'm honest when asked questions about Avoncraig as I really don't want people to be disappointed in any way when they get here... More

New rooms. The bathroom was superb. It is quite a climb up to the accommodation but no problem with rucksacks. Fiona & Stuart came to meet us in the car & the next day Stuart delivered our rucksacks to us at the ferry terminal. We had to catch an early morning train on our last night & Fiona packed a... More

Stayed at 20 B&Bs en route from Lands End to John o'Groats by public transport. As 70 year olds we looked for comfort, quiet, reasonable room size, service and value. Avoncraig ticked all the boxes and more. Relative to others, it was almost lowest price we paid, without any downsides. In addition, we had offer of collection from centre, shown... More

I take my hat off to you travelling all that distance by public transport. I'm very pleased you were happy with your accommodation. You were fortunate that Stuart was here to give you the tour of McCaig's Tower - he is very enthusiastic about history. I hope the rest of your travels went well and I thank you for posting... More

Ideal base for kayaking out of Oban for a week. Fiona couldnt have been more helpful. Rooms spacious, comfortable and clean, and ensuite bathroom always warm for drying out wet clothing. Lovely breakfasts, and can be provided at times to suit you. Great views down over Oban and out to Kerrera. Couldnt have asked for more.

Stopped here during our 2 1/2 week Scotland road trip. Located nicely above McCaig's Tower, just a few minutes walking distance to center (quite steep though). Didn't find it on our own (missed the sign), but host came down and picked us up from the Tower parking lot. Double room somewhat small, but cozy. Nice views from the breakfast room,... More
