It might have been royal, but not for a good few years. Very tired and in desperate need of a refurb. Room very small and dingy with a very small bathroom. Also had a function on so very very loud music until 12.30am - not ideal as wanted an early night. Should have been warned about this.

After reading the reviews, We were anxious about our upcoming stay at The Royal Hotel in Oban. Upon arrival, the staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Yes, the elevator is TINY, and the floors creak...but the building is over 100 years old! We loved the charm and architectural details of the historic building. Our rooms were small, but very clean.... More

This low end hotel had a low end London price to match the low end London quality. The girl at reception was very helpful and very friendly. That is the nicest thing I can say about the place. It's tired - every door frame to every room on every floor is badly damaged by the laundry bucket that is left... More

Stayed 2 days breakfast was very good, But early mornings were disturbed at 05:45 by the tannoy from the ferry boat in the harbour, giving instructions to the crew of the ferry. Apart from this the and the slow service waiting for the pot of tea and toast.

Overnight in twin room with en suite prior to CalMac sailing to Coll. We arrived late in day at about 10.30pm. Staff in evening and next morning were extraordinarily helpful and were enthusiastic to make sure that we had our cooked breakfast before we left and even offered carry out box when we were short of time. Everything functioned well... More

I stayed in room 301. It is tiny and dismal. Gloomy with dark decor and very little natural light and dim room lighting so you can barely brighten it enough to read.. By contrast the bathroom is bright and modern so I shifted a chair in there. The pillows were hard and uncomfortable. Also why is the Wi-Fi restricted to... More

The rooms are tired - like I was after a poor nights sleep. Furniture and decorations in room are dated, bed uncomfortable, noisy from floor above and late night drunks outside. Has had little maintenance/investment but as long as the coach parties keep on coming, hey why spend money it's only tourists spending their hard earned money. Such a shame... More

Was a but weary about staying here after reading some of the reviews. Although the rooms are a bit dated, they are clean, bed was comfortable, shower was warm and we had a great nights sleep. Buffet breakfast was fantastic with lovely staff. We also had a meal here at a great price, with free wifi in the lounge. Great... More
