My parents in their 70s and I stayed here recently, what a lovely place, lift was a bit small but you cant change that in an old building. Staff in dining room seemed to be overworked but that is everywhere nowadays, more profit...less experienced staff. We slept so well,we will be staying here again, they are slowly getting the hotel done up,but it costs... More

We were visiting Oban for the day and needed a place to have lunch. There is a plethora of choices but we chose the Royal Hotel restaurant. It was an inspired choice because the menu indicated, using numbers, the type of allergen in the menu choices like gluten or milk. My husband is a coeliac and must eat only gluten... More

We stayed one night in a family room. At first glance it seemed quite nice and the other guests were happy as the last room they had was less than acceptable.. at least the beds were comfortable as the youngest one compared them 'Goldilocks style' to their previous experience. Unfortunately (although probably clean and changed for each guest) the duvet... More

This is a classic Strathmore Group hotel i.e. a bit frayed and creaky around the edges but comfortable enough and with clean bathrooms and hearty breakfasts. We did a DB&B deal which was pretty good until the last night when a tall head waitress type ran after us and accused us of walking out without paying! We'd given our room... More

We have stayed here several times now and I don't think we will be returning until the rooms are updated. Every time we have stayed here the rooms have seemed very old fashioned and look as though they have not been decorated in ages. Bathroom was adequate but again nothing special. Everything is old and worn nothing looks modern or... More

We stayed for 3 nights and frankly, had the hotel been better we would have stayed longer. I see other reviewers have labelled it "tired" and "needs upgraded", sentiments I totally agree with. I wouldn't fault the staff as they were very pleasant and helpful. They gave us a warm welcome. Main issue is the fabric of the building, the... More

i stayed here recently on business just for one night. As others the car park is small. It I did manage to eventually bag a space. The route from the car park to the hotel entrance is scruffy with litter strewn around. The hotel entrance is nice and welcoming and the reception staff are very helpful. The first room I... More

Very pleased with my room on the third floor, front facing. Staff and customer service very good, everyone was very helpful and positive. Enjoyed a lovely bar meal at a good price. Hotel very central if you are catching a ferry. Some areas could do with updating but I was lucky to get a good sized single that had been... More
