We originally booked in for one night but ended staying for three! A beautiful guest house on the edge of Oban (only a ten minute walk into the centre). It has fantastic views over the town and out over to Kerrera (sp?) and Mull; sitting having breakfast (which was great by the way!) with a view like that was a... more

A beautifully maintained property, with the best views of Oban and the islands, owned and run by real professionals with great character, charm, and personality. A very short taxi drive or 20 minute walk to a large choice of restaurants for evening meals. An even shorter walk to the Hotel's own stock of around 100 malt whiskies! more

We stayed at Dungallan Country House from 3-6 April 2008. Built in 1870 by the Duke of Argyll for his summer residence at the edge of town, Dungallan's commanding and secluded position has superb views to three sides over Oban Bay, the Isles of Kerrera, Lismore and Mull and the sound of Kerrera. Both Mike and Marion, the owners, were... more

Stayed at Dungallan for two nights in March and could not fault it. We were greeted by Marion, one of the owners, upon our arrival and she could not have been nicer or more helpful. Our room was beautiful with stunning sea views as described on their website. This was our first visit to Oban and we will definitely return... more

Fantastic hotel but the owner (mrs Coates) was particularly unfriendly unfortunately. Real shame! more

Management response from
dungallan, owner

In the interest of our greatly valued guests, both resident and visitors to our popular Whisky & wine bar, we feel it necessary to respond to the above comment. We watched the arrival of a car on CCTV from which emerged a family with small children and a dog which promptly relieved itself On explaining, that letting their dog urinate...

We needed a place to stay in Oban to complement our journey through Mull to Iona, and the Dungallan House Hotel had room with short notice, so we gave it a try. The owners were cordial and affable, even during the busy peak season. We enjoyed an excellent selection at the bar, and delightful meals with the best servers on... more

This hotel is situated in a great position. I think it is far too expensive for what it is and compared to others in the locality. I found the owners not very friendly. one thing that bugged me was that they also charged the same amount for a small room overlooking the back of the building as they did for... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at Dungallon from the 7-9 September and we had a fabulous time. Our host’s Mike and Marion were lovely and we felt like part of the family rather than a number and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food and quality of service was excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel.... more

My wife and I just spent five wonderful days in early September at the Dungallan House. We were joined for two days by her sister so this review is the compilation of three adult opinions. We have travelled in the UK for over 25 years and have stayed in hundreds of hotels large and small, country house and chains, etc.... more
