The room was fine; the manager very helpful; nice little bar; great view from our room; up above the town (very much a tourist town) and away from the noise but only a few minutes walk into town. Off-street parking. HOWEVER, our shower literally did not work; only scalding hot water came out. Apparently, according to the front desk, this... More

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, we do get an occasional experience like your own now and again We take the view that anyone who can organise themselves long haul flights and get to a smallish town, driving on the opposite side of the road from normal, will have a fair degree of common sense. There... More

We stayed here on our whistle stop tour of Scotland. . 2nd July 2015.. People say "you should never judge a book by its cover".. which in this case is very true. As initially at first glance on arrival, there did appear to be a need for updating the exterior but once inside we were pleasantly surprised and greeted by... More

The rooms are livable, but disappointing. The beds are fair, but the paint is chipping, and the rooms are full of dust. There are holes in the carpet, and the building is barely up to code. The rooms may not meet expectations for many people, but they can be okay for a night or two. I would not recommend this... More

this hotel come B&B was a bit outdated to get to our room we had to go up 2 flights of stairs through numerous fire doors (needed a sleep after all that) the room itself was ok the so called on-suite well think it may have been a wardrobe before , well thats what it felt like .hospitality was good... We spent a fantastic night in this hotel, we were greeted with a very friendly welcome and we're able to check in early, which was good as we were attending an event. Our room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was very tasty and freshly made to order. I only wish we could have stayed more than one... More

After a slightly dodgy start, when there was no hot water when we arrived due to a fault with the boiler, this turned out to be a decent choice. The breakfasts were excellent and the service was good. The room was comfortable and clean, although the ensuite was small - tip, don't leave the heated towel rail on whilst you're... More

Were booked into the Kings Knoll after our chosen hotel mixed up our booking. Overpriced for what was a small room but we had no choice as it was a holiday weekend. It was however, clean with a very comfortable bed. Staff friendly and breakfast very average. No hotel information in room. Not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties due to steep... More

Ordinarily reviews like this are treated as feedback for where service can be improved however , there are several issues to contend with here. Below taken from the review of McKay’s re-booked us into another hotel which frankly was not to our taste, overpriced, dingy and located up a steep hill- not appropriate for my illness. Below from the review... More

Relaxed and helpful host, good clean rooms, good choice for a Scottish breakfast and prompt service. Bathroom was functional and modern, shower was the right temperature. Recommend. Down the hill to the sea front.

Reminded me a bit of Faulty Towers but with much nicer hosts and better hospitality. Rooms are small and the showers are tight but quite OK. The bar area is very comfortable. The landlord makes a great Scottish whiskey coffee and has good tourist advice. Had to come up to the bar to use the wifi. Great freshly cooked breakfast... More
