Were booked into the Kings Knoll after our chosen hotel mixed up our booking. Overpriced for what was a small room but we had no choice as it was a holiday weekend. It was however, clean with a very comfortable bed. Staff friendly and breakfast very average. No hotel information in room. Not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties due to steep... More

Ordinarily reviews like this are treated as feedback for where service can be improved however , there are several issues to contend with here. Below taken from the review of McKay’s re-booked us into another hotel which frankly was not to our taste, overpriced, dingy and located up a steep hill- not appropriate for my illness. Below from the review... More

Relaxed and helpful host, good clean rooms, good choice for a Scottish breakfast and prompt service. Bathroom was functional and modern, shower was the right temperature. Recommend. Down the hill to the sea front.

Reminded me a bit of Faulty Towers but with much nicer hosts and better hospitality. Rooms are small and the showers are tight but quite OK. The bar area is very comfortable. The landlord makes a great Scottish whiskey coffee and has good tourist advice. Had to come up to the bar to use the wifi. Great freshly cooked breakfast... More

We were recently booked at the Kings Knoll by a tour company. Several of us were situated in a back hall ( annex) sort of area. The room was small, ill-equipped, and chilly. Others in our group, who were upstairs, had nothing but nice things to say about the hotel. So, the answer lies in getting the "right" room. We... More

My friend and I stayed in this hotel for one night and were glad it was one night only. We did not choose the hotel it was booked by a holiday company. The electrics in the room were very dodgy. the main light did not work, their electric towel rail in the bathroom was broken revealing wires, there were a... More

My friend and I stayed one night in Oban at the Kings Knoll Hotel. When we arrived the internet was out so the man at the desk did not have access to our reservations. Our room was up the stairs, down the steps, and around the corner. Lugging our bags was a bit of an effort after a day of... More

Just back from spending 2 nights here. Small, friendly, great breakfasts. Clean and comfortable rooms, modern bathroom. Small terrace, where you can sit out if you are a smoker, lovely views over Oban bay. Only downside WiFi came and went. Would definitely recommend.

We only stayed one night during the summer holidays after coming back from Mull but this hotel was happy to let for a single night in peak season. The accommodation was clean and had what you need after a hot day's driving, a comfy bed, shower and TV. They also put my in-laws up at short notice due to a... More

Travelling through Scotland and lucky to find a room in Oban, we had not realised how popular Scotland would be this summer! A traditional hotel with very helpful and professional staff. Room clean and comfortable, only 10 minutes walk from centre with restaurants. Good breakfast and lovely view over the harbour. The shower a little small and not quite up... More
