A very traditional Scottish hotel that is undergoing subtle upgrades by the very friendly new owners. We checked in late and they opened the kitchen especially. The bar looks fantastic and the log fire give's it that special feel. The area has a very quaint shop and a small brewery that produces real ale's and the hotel is only a short distance to... more

This was our first visit to the area and thanks to the wonderful experience we had at the Cuilfail it will certainly not be our last. We loved it. The surroundings are very beautiful, dramatic views greet you around every twist and turn in the road. The hotel itself is full of charm, many old features have been retained giving... more

This was our second stay here, the first time being 8 years ago...and our most enjoyed accomodation during our tour of Scotland. The new owners are working extremely hard to restore this inn to its former glory. Back in the day, it was a premier spot for those travelling to the area for hunting and fishing. The bar is a... more

Wanted something different rather than staying on Oban seafront. This hotel with its 200+ years history has that character. New owners are making good progress in upgrading the hotel following years of neglect. Enjoyed our bar meal and would recommend the hotel, friendly staff and the snug bar which still has a collection of banknotes stuck to the ceiling beams... more

Very friendly hotel, they even provided a hot meal in the restaurant when we arrived very late on a wet Friday night. Andy the Chef, bar man, receptionist, night porter, breakfast waiter and comedian was the star of the weekend visit. The Hotel is typical of an old Highland Hotel, but was clean and tidy, the food was freshly made and... more

The Cuilfail Hotel is wonderfully located between the hills and you can reach the coast within 5 minutes by car. It is very quiet up there, a beautiful place to relax. The hotel itself is really old and you will believe the storys of Queen Victoria staying there. The rooms and the furniture could need a little mending but nevertheless... more

Not a great Hotel but not terrible either. Room was a bit shabby and the bathroom could really do with a clean. Nice building, public areas are OK. Food plain but acceptable. Breakfast room was a bit chilly. more

I went with my husband to this hotel and we had a lovely stay. The room we stayed in had just been decorated and was charming and very Scottish. The staff we always happy to help us, and went out the their way to recommend places to visit and local beauty spots. The food was hearty, simple and good value... more
