Stayed for 4 nights with family in room 16,which is at front of hotel. You can hear the ferry tannoy from this room, but it didn't bother us,kids liked watching the ferry coming and going. Our room was quite large with a lovely bathroom with bath/shower with plenty of hot water.Plenty of tea and coffee in room, also hairdryer.Only slight criticism was the wardrobe... I stayed in the Kelvin Hotel in Oban, Scotland in June 2014 with six other family members, three rooms. The hotel is very clean, the beds are solid, the rooms have good space. They are not fancy. The breakfasts serve as much as you want, from full Scottish to cereal. The pub is quiet, a relief from the sports bars... More

Booked room 2, family room for 2 nights and we have no complaints. A few moments from the ferry terminal and train station our room may have been a bit tired looking but it was spotlessly clean. All the staff were ever so friendly and breakfast was delicious with my daughter of the opinion that the scrambled eggs were the... More

Not very interesting to stay and not very attractive in terms of price either. For the same price we could have stayed in a very nice b&b. but unfortunately it was a very busy period in oban and we did not have many alternatives due to availability constraint. (On our second day, we stayed in Dunheanish guest house that was... More

The Kelvin Hotel is within walking distance from everything in Oban, and the staff are extremely friendly. However, they are a few aspects of the hotel that can be a bit off-putting. Firstly, the check-in counter is actually the bar of the pub found on the first floor of the hotel. Walking into a pub fill with locals staring at... More

Rooms average, stayed 2 separate nights either end of a holiday. On first morning had scrambled egg, on return a week later told they didn't do scrambled egg, it was obvious the waitress wasn't going to check or request it for me so I had to make do with toast.

Best Wi-fi speeds I have come across in Scotland. A definite plus. Room was clean and comfortable. Maintenance on the structure is needed. Wallpaper starting to come off the walls, evidence of leaks. Staff was friendly and helpful. No room darkening shades (it did not bother us, we still slept fine). The bathroom was nicely updated. Base of tub was... More

Came in by train, left by ferry all right there!!! Easily walkable. Room 9 fit our family of 5 with a bit of a squeeze, but we don't spend much time in hotel rooms, so it was fine. Nice sunset views over the bay--when the big ferry is out. nice sunset view over the ferry when it is in. Room... More

Would I stay again? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes.. We couldn't stay at our first choice hotel and plumped for this as it had a room available. Ok, its not in the centre of Oban, but it is just a couple of minutes walk away. It does have views over Oban Bay with some of the rooms and the... More
