We stopped one night but ate here three times. Lunch and 2 dinners. Lunch was fine and no complaints, staff were very friendly and food was good. Of the 2 dinners, one was terrible (ribeye steak) and the other (smoked hake) was good. Why do you not provide seating for people having a drink in the evening? We had to... More

We arrived in heavy rain, and was very disappointed when we found we were in an annexe at the back of the Hotel, the room to say the least was in need of a good clean, there were cobwebs everywhere, half the lights didn't work & every draw you pulled out you couldn't open or shut properly, we were glad... What a wonderful stay at the George, arrived mid afternoon and we were warmly welcomed. Our rooms were lovely, spacious and comfortable. The decor has a lovely mix of Scottish and French character! We really enjoyed meeting mine host in the evening, and our meal afterwards was excellent and not overpriced like some Scottish hotels and restaurants that we have... More

Stayed here on the Sunday snug deal which includes bottle of champagne on arrival in room, also includes lovely big room with jacuzzi bath , robes and £50 towards food at dinner and full cooked breakfast . We booked this quite last minute as a stopover on our weekend in Oban. We arrived early and our room fortunately was ready... More

My partner and I had stayed in the Crerar hotel up the road last year but had heard good things sbout the George. Stayed on sunday snug deal. Got Room 5 which is huge with loads of character and had a jacuzzi in the corner which was amazing after a long days walking. Bed huge and very comfy. Had dinner... More

At the end of our campervan honeymoon my husband had booked a room (the merchants) for a night. Great room with a huge jacuzzi, comfy bed, lovely old furniture and an amazing bathroom door. We dined in the restaurant and even though it was busy and staff season change over night we were seated promptly and had a lovely meal.... More

Just popped in for a quick drink when we passed for the AirPort. The place was packed with people, live music and sports on the telly. Friendly staff and good drinks. Should have had Some more seating omsider though. The terrace was packed too, so a bit to few chairs

We had chosen the Merchant room, which has an abundance of character, amongst other things a Jacuzzi that would fit 6 people. The room was huge with an attached bathroom. The bed was comfortable. However, in general the bathroom and room was a bit tired, needed some updating. The pub/restaurant was very rustic, with uneven stone flooring. We sat in... More

We stayed here on many occasions and really like the character and feel of the place. Every room is different and we have never stayed in one that we didn't like. The food is good and the service always nice. My only critic is the ladies (the younger one especially) at reception who have been there many years and to... More

We stayed here one night and would definitely return. Room was massive and full of character. Characterful pub too with a modern bright extension for more restaurant style of dining & breakfasts. Great local ales too! Very little parking though (half a dozen cars maybe?). The on-street parking looks like it's free but the hotel alerted us to tiny signs... More
