We have stayed at The George many times in the past, the most recent being 2 days ago. The rooms are large, even the standard rooms, most have jacuzzi baths and large beds. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the friendly staff and management, the rooms with the open fires are fantastic to stay in. The bar is... More

Just back from a fantastic stay. We stayed in room nine which was great with a nice big four poster bed and a twin Jacuzzis bath. The whole of the hotel and bar was clean and tidy. All the food sounded great and loads of choice I had the crab cigar followed by steak and my wife had pate followed... More

Very good lunch with a nice drink to go with it fom the Loch Fyne Ales brewery - Para Handy - Always worth a visit when we are over this way. The service was good, but the hotel was quieter than usual which was surprising Give it a try !

This was a combined birthday, valentines day and wedding anniversary stay.............all on the same day ! So it had to be special. We had heard on the grapevine as we don't live far away that this is a very good place to either eat or stay, and by golly those grapes were right. And we are very fussy and difficult... More

We enjoyed this classic old hotel and pub. Friendly, comfy, clean, and historic. The dinner waitress got our order wrong, but the meal that turned up was fine. We got some great pictures in this cute little town. We would return.

We have eaten at The George many times as we live only 45 miles away but decided to stay over with some friends. Very warm welcome, lovely comfy room and great shower. Atmosphere in the bar was super and we got chatting to some of the 'regulars' who were also very welcoming. We ate elsewhere on this occasion but returned... More

My boyfriend booked for us to stay here as a treat for my birthday. About a month before we were due to arrive we had to change the booking to be Sat - Mon instead of Fri - Sun sdue to getting time off work. When we got there we got a very friendly welcome and went to our room... More

This is a hotel that could teach a thing or two to many hotels in Scotland. The staff are excellent and food is wonderful with a great breakfast and an excellent lunch and dinner menu. A huge plus is that they happily except dogs not only to stay at the hotel but in their excellent very spacious cocktail bar where... More

We stayed in another hotel as the George was fully booked but we dropped in for drinks and had a lovely time. Very cosy and welcoming on a rainy January evening. Very good live music. Hope to return and stay very soon.

My wife and I stayed here in January with another couple, having booked in December. On arrival, we found that one couple in our party had been fortunate enough to be upgraded at no extra cost and that couple was us. Our upgraded room was a Master Deluxe and was very spacious, containing a double jacuzzi and an open fire.... More
