We went for the Thursday curry night. The curries were great and good value at £8 for a curry and drink. We also had puddings from the main menu which were good. The staff were very pleasant and the pub had a lovely traditional feel to it. We were staying in a cottage at Seagreens so had a fabulous walk... More

We stayed there on Friday 3rd April as part of a Car Owners Club group that was doing a 'Coast to Coast' run the following day. It is a lovely traditional hotel/pub that does really great seafood. We had people staying in the Hotel flat and cottage but we stayed in one of the rooms upstairs in the hotel itself.... More

Went to the Hotel for lunch with my wife and 3 yr old son. Food was very nice and reasonably priced. Staff very friendly. Good to see locals also at the bar, who were very friendly also. Great place!!

I took my son Ronan to see Donnie Munro at Montrose. We stayed 2 nights at the Anchor Hotel in the picturesque village of Johnshaven, it is a family-run business boasting 2 chefs who specialise in local fresh fish. The staff were brilliant and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was newly refurbished and very comfortable and... More

We were staying at Puffin Cottage for three nights and we ate at the Anchor for two of those...wandered along with the dog (who was made very welcome with a bowl of water and some dog biscuits), and were delighted to see that this was Curry Night at the Anchor. Fabulous value for money with your curry and a drink... More

I have spent 3 months on holiday in the area , and we have visited the Anchor virtually every week! You can rely on getting exceptional food - with the fish especially whether it is haddock , sea bass , lemon sole etc.The specials are on blackboards round the bar and normally include fish stew , lobster , monkfish scampi... We stayed here as we were attending a party in the village hall. We had a brilliant stay, the staff were very attentive and could not do enough for us! We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and were totally satisfied with our meals. The breakfast was especially brilliant. We'd definitely recommend The Anchor.

You can eat in the bar or upstairs in the restaurant and we chose the later. I had lobster bisque followed by mussels and both were excellent. As i am not fond of cream i asked for my mussels just in white wine, unfortunately when they arrived they were in cream, i was happy to eat them but ended up... More

Just spent an excellent weekend in this hotel and can't praise it highly enough, from the minute we entered we were made to feel welcome. The food was perfection and the staff did everything possible to make us feel at home.
