Visited here a couple of weeks ago for a family meal. Was the second time we had been here, and once again we were not disappointed. The only down-side was that the restaurant upstairs was full and we had to sit in the bar at an awkward-shaped table but apart from that everything was delicious. We will need to be... More

We popped in for lunch and as the restaurant is only open in the evening and weekends had a bar lunch. The bar is couthy, with atmosphere, and obviously has a place in the local community. The staff are very helpful. I had the Cullen Skink which was one of the best I have ever had. I look forward to... More

Booked a 2 night stay at The Anchor and wished we could have stayed another. Lovely little hotel in a picturesque fishing village. Family connections brought us to the area and we made the best choice staying here. Our room was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. The breakfast is wonderful and sets you up for the day. You... More

We stayed here for one night whilst we were in Scotland on business. being picky, our only fault is that the cable for the kettle in rrom 3? is a bit short to be able to use safely, but as long as you unplug it from the wall you're ok. It's a cracking little pub, very friendly staff, wonderful food... More

We had a lovely family meal here and out of a table of ten there were no complaints at all! Main course was particularly good fillet medalians with haggis and a lovely whisky sauce. Lots we would still like to try from the menu so we will be back. Friendly staff too!

We had a lovely wee overnight stay with Gary & Jan. What a lovely place & such a warm welcome. With our free upgrade to the cottage, it was just a home from home. Thanks & we'll see you again. Jimmy, Sandra & Isla

Just back from a brilliant one-night stay at the Anchor. The hotel is a short walk, and I mean yards (or metres if you prefer) to the picturesque harbour which is overlooked by quaint cottages, each one different from the next. The village is in a conservation area and any recent development has been done very tastefully so as not... More

We came across the Anchor by chance when looking for the Starfish Studio in Johnshaven. We called in for a drink but having seen the specials board decided to stay for lunch! Gemma was most welcoming, polite and friendly. It looked like the public areas had been recently refurbished. I chose the fresh lobster soup and wasn't disappointed. A hot... More

I visited with friends during December for a meal from the Christmas meal. Food was lovely, big portions and friendly staff. A bit of a wait for the chocolate fondant, but given it was do yummy, it didn't matter too much. Would definitely return.

We were looking for something out of the way and at the same time to show us the beautiful east coast of Scotland. We were not disappointed, we chose the cottage which is basically a full house at the same rate as a hotel room, perfect for a family of 4. On arrival we were greeted and shown to the... More
