My wife and I went for a 'one night romantic' DB&B package which overall was very good value for money. Our room was excellent in size. The main reason for our visit was for the dining. Solid, but could have been so much better with a few adjustments. Arrived in the comfortable drawing room for a pre-dinner drink. 'A Kir... more

Didn't stay overnight so can't comment on rooms. Visited for a meal - prompt welcome on arrival, quickly offered drinks and given menus. 4 starters, 4 mains, 4 desserts, all of which sounded great! Brought a plate of nibbles with our drinks. Tables well spaced out, plenty of room for everything on table (not always the case with most restaurants!).... more

A picturesque looking hotel, beautiful to the eye or so it would seem due to how it is presented via its website. However on approaching this "prestigious" hotel the first thing that strikes you about it is the smell! With a farm featured on the hotel grounds the smell is less than enticing. On entering the rooms we found the... more

Thank you for your comments, I am glad you enjoyed good service. As we have a dispense bar with no seating, I would question your point about the hotel manager sitting the bar. There is however nothing we can do about the occasional smell of the country from the farm next door. It is minor and temporary, and a small...

Have to say first that we didn;t actually stay there (it's only 10 miles from my dad!) But i did choose it for a special birthday (dad 75) meal for a small family gathering - and it was everything we could have wished and more. We went for Sunday lunch - and were greeted at the door by freindly, but... more

A lovely hotel if you want to stay in the Dundee area but away from the city. Family run and very attentive and friendly staff. The rooms were lovely too, although the shower wasn't great. Particularly loved the breakfasts which were the best I've had in any hotel for a long time - especially the bacon. more

we spent 4 weeks of holidays in the north of scotland (8 stops, 3 or 4 nights each place), and have been very satisfied by all of them, except the castelton house hotel at glamis where we stayed 3 nights ( 11 / 12 / 13 june 2008 ) . the site could be pleasant whithout the direct proximity of... more

Regrettably this gentleman was greatly disturbed by an elderly and hard of hearing American lady in the room next door, who due to jet lag was unable to sleep and insisted on playing her TV on full volume even after he asked her to turn it down. The hotel was full and there was nothing we could do anyway since...

Stayed here in 04 and 05 and thoroughly recommend this hotel for a number of reasons andthough its a bit off the beaten track its worth the effort once you are there. The food is good to very good, well worth its rating, thoughtfully sourced, prepared and presented and the rooms vary from small and cosy to bordering opulence in... more

If you want a faceless corporate hotel then the Castleton House hotel is not for you, there are aspects such as a bar and restaurant but don’t expect a gym or swimming pool, this is not the Castleton House hotel. I suggest the Castleton house hotel is about style and traditional quality, an aspect lost on many of the brand... more

Stayed here for one night in June. Friendly staff, nice grounds with putting and croquet. Rooms very clean and comfortable, though not large. Restuarant has pleasant ambience and good service, though the food, in keeping with much of the UK, tended towards overcooked. Overall, a good place to stay when touring Scotland. more
