What do we expect when we stay at a Bed & Breakfast....a pleasant welcome from your Host, peaceful surroundings, lovely countryside views......hot water & heating perhaps? Balmashanner has most of the above. All 8 Guests, including ourselves had no hat water or heating from the time we arrived to when we left the following day. (The water was tepid at... More

I feel however this customer is posting incorrect information and seems to have missed what I feel are more important points that should have been contained in the review. Firstly, this customer... Visiting family in Forfar, I was after somewhere convenient and flexible. The Balmashammer was accommodating, quiet, comfortable and for me the personal but no fuss approach was just right. Lovely breakfast served in your room overlooking the garden.

We stayed for 1 night with our dog, and were well looked after. It was a very nice room with breakfast in the room with a lovely outlook. The only factor to be aware of is that it is a shared bathroom.

We stopped in Forfar as we had been travelling for the day and were pretty weary. Mine host "Robert" was just the tonic we needed. The room was great the service excellent. As our trip was not fully planned we asked Robert for advice. This advice was taken and we had the most fantastic week visiting areas of Scotland. Thank... More

I had a short stay at Balmashanner due to work commitments and I only have the highest praise for the B&B. Friendly, listen to your needs , breakfast superb (almost couldn't finish it!!!) Quiet country setting with beautiful views . Information leaflets in room would be useful if visiting/touring the area. would recommend Balmashanner without hesitation

Lovely farmhouse, beautiful views, very peaceful. Rooms were spacious and breakfast was served in the room which we thought was a nice touch. Useful information booklet about the local area, and excellent recommendation to the Chapter and Verse for dinner. Only problem we had were running out of hot water for the shower (but it was ready again when we... More

We need somewhere overnight for 2 adults and 2 teenagers arriving fairly late on Friday evening not too far from Aberdeen. Accommodation in Aberdeen was either not available or well overpriced. Balmashanner was a great internet find. Really friendly, very easy to book over the phone and the website is good too. It was easy to find and our rooms... More

I travel all over the uk, staying mainly single nights in various b and bs. The location, accomodation, and great hosts put this in the top ten of stays. Rob and Marie make your stay very homely and nothing is too much trouble. Spotlessly clean rooms and comfy beds, breakfast is amazing. Great walks in beautiful countryside, will be coming... More
