Had a wonderful stay again thanks to the staff and chef. Rooms are comfortable and good value. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and steaks are top notch. Really great value all round and cosy retreat in winter time.

Experienced welcoming staff, meal served promptly, sadly the curry was not served at the right temperature and the base of the lasagne was burnt to a crisp. Explained to the staff, but no apology! Simple - won't be back! Surprisingly it is up for sale, clearly lack of effort. Why don't owners just close the doors than spoiling others peoples... More

Nice bar and lovely beer garden. Dropped in here for a drink but moved on pretty quickly. There was a group of young folk at the bar who seemed to be trying to make some kind of impression with their choice language..... Not really appropriate guys when there are other folk in and also a couple of young kids. I... More

I have visited this hotel twice in the past three days. The first in the restaurant and the second in the bar. We ate from the same menu which was 2 for £12 on main courses. Both times the meals were excellent, great value for money and all staff were attentive and helpful, particularly the young waitress on duty. I... More

Ordered a cocktail, the majority of which the bartender slopped over the side of the glass and then forgot to shake over ice, so it resulted in a sickly sweet, luke warm concoction. It did however go well with the sticky table top! Surf and turf for meal, which was an oversized portion and a bit mediocre. The waitress was... More

We stayed here for three nights and had a very pleasant stay. We had a triple room on the top floor with wonderful views across to Fife. (could do with a bigger hairdryer in the room) The en suite was adequate but not plush and suited our purposes. We were the only people in the dining room for breakfast and... More

We began with limited expectations. We had been passed on by another hotel which was unable to fulfil our booking. My wife didn't like the look of the web site but from the friendly welcome when we arrived before 12 noon ( we were attending a wedding which began at 1pm) until the huge breakfast and warm "haste ye back"... Came here for meal and ended up staying for the folk music night where participation is actively encouraged. Had steak pie, delicious and meat was plentiful and very tender. Hubby had fish and chips which cane with plenty of salad. Not the most adventurous of choices from us, but were both very tasty and had no room for dessert! Outdoor... More

We haven`t been going out so often for a meal of late as I have been ill, so we were very much looking forward to our meal at the Aboukir. The starters were excellent and very reasonably priced, as is the food in general. For our mains we ordered the steak pie and the sausage and black pudding casserole with... More
