Positives 1) Only 5 minutes or so from the railway station, theatre and main shopping street, easy to find 2) Breakfast was very good, plenty of hot food choices and cereals, juice, yoghurt etc (but see below) 3) Check in quick and easy 4) Bed was comfy and eventually after noise died down slept ok Negatives 1) Décor was old... I stayed in the royal hotel as an overnight stay before going to work. The room was clean and spacious but it was very dated. Double glazing the rooms would not only help keep the noise from the street down but also save them on heating. The location is excellent as it is right in the city centre and close... More

Checked in at tea time on Saturday, visiting from Dundee. Giggled to find we had upstairs in our 'hotel room'..up the stairs we found a living area with sofa, coffee table and t.v...it was such a surprise, must admit to sitting there for a while with fan on as the bedroom was too hot after hairdryer being on. Missed breakfast... More

Ahhh The 'Royal' Hotel definitely not living up to its name with staff like that, Out of every hotel restaurant I've been to this tops the rudeness scale and it's quite frankly plain embarrassing at the way the staff treat you. Had my elderly mother laughed at by the waitress AND manager as she was confused by the bill, I... More

Hotels in Aberdeen are a complete rip off, especially during the week. This hotel tends to be £81 during the week and doesn't tend to fluctuate in price much, which is a good price for Aberdeen. The hotel is very central and next to the train station and main road union street. The rooms are old fashioned but the bedding... More

Stopping by Aberdeen for a business meeting in the morning, I booked a single room at the Royal Hotel. Oh how I wish I hadn't, anything would have been better than spending £81 on this awful place, managed by dishonest and unfriendly people. I had to wait a good 5 min at the reception desk when I arrived, received my... More

We stayed in this hotel for two nights on arrival in Scotland. It's location is in an older pocket of the city - just off the High St. It's also just 2 minutes walk to the train station. The hotel is an older style building which gives it its character but in some areas, looks like it needs some freshening... More

Warm & welcoming bar, just right for a pre Christmas friends get together. The menu offered traditional Scottish food, which was well cooked & generously portioned - the beef olives were enormous! The desserts are home made and seasonal & we thoroughly enjoyed our meal!
