The hotel is old which is charming. The rooms are dated but clean. The staff was amazing. The breakfast is great. The restaurant and pub in the hotel had fantastic food. They also have room service. I did not explore too much of Aberdeen, but there was lots of shopping and near the train station. The hotel is very basic... More

Quite a depressing hotel, very dated, cheap nasty furniture and fittings, stains on carpets, walls and even ceilings, very odd smell in the dark corridors, my room had an upstairs sitting area which was nice ( except for the big stain in the middle of the carpet) and beware of the loose carpet on the very steep stairs. As with all hotels... I chose this hotel because of the location near railway and bus stations. This hotel has basic things for staying one night. The carpets look dirty and the floor in my room was sloping a little. I could hear talking from other rooms, gulls making noise on the streets. Friendly staff, good breakfast. A little overpriced in my opinion. Stay... More

We booked this hotel due to its nearness to the train station and so were not too surprised at its price of £91 for a double. That is until we arrived. The hotel and its situation looks like something from a 19th century film set ... boarded up buildings, bad cobbled streets, darkly lit and depressing. I've never seen a... More

Stayed here for the All Energy conference with a colleague and understand know why this hotel wasn't fully booked. In the morning when we met for breakfast we both looked bleary eyed as we had both had poor nights sleeps. My colleague had also spoken to a lady in the lift that morning that had also had a poor nights... More

We stayed over on two separate days. The location is fabulous! It is in the center of the city with easy access to union square, the bus and train stations and restaurants. The breakfast generous, the staff very helpful. Check in was easy, they stored our luggage on the day we arrived early in the morning. The staff was very helpful... More

Bad smell, didn't like everything, service could be called as "no service". Parking lot is around the corner with suspicious characters around and you have to leave your car keys at reception "just in case". Well, over all this place is a dumshit with no decent elevator, smells, questionable cleanness, almost no room door (every single thing is heard in... More

I stayed in the royal hotel as an overnight stay before going to work. The room was clean and spacious but it was very dated. Double glazing the rooms would not only help keep the noise from the street down but also save them on heating. The location is excellent as it is right in the city centre and close... More
