When you are looking for 5star and excellent service, the Marcliff is your hotel. We needed a hotel that would deal with a smoker in the now nonsmoking Scotland. They gave us 2 side by side rooms with doors that opened out on to the graveled patio area, perfect for my husband, yet allowed my daughters and me a smoke... more

Nothing on the breakfast menu for vegetarians so I had half a slice of toast for breakfast! They ran out of bread so we had to ask for more, no glasses for the fruit juice so we had to ask for again. The aberdeen rolls were brick hard and not fresh. Not a good selection at all for a hotel of... more

An excellent hotel spoilt only by the kitchen which seems to burn the outside of everything (including an omlette!) whilst undercooking the inside of meat. I think they grill things. I spent three nights there and had lunch each day as well. The breakfast team were excellent and provided everything to a high standard. But the lunch and evening service... more

Again we rounded off our Scottish touring holiday with a 2 day stay at the Marcliffe. Again we had superb service and a wonderful room. Everything is of the highest standard at this superb hotel. I do mean everything, The size of the rooms - excellent. The cleanliness - first class. The service - cannot be faulted. The bathrooms -... more

The Marcliffe is a quality hotel in lovely surroundings. It is a bit out of town but if you don't mind a 10 minute drive it is fine. The reception and lobby staff were extremely efficient and the common parts of the hotel are beautifully decorated. The food at breakfast was well cooked and the service was extremely efficient. The... more

We had a one night stay at the Marcliffe when attending a wedding there in April. From start to finish, we couldn't fault it. We thought the wedding reception service was awfully slow but it turned out we were waiting for the grrom to finish his soup!! All the staff, from reception to the dining room were excellent. Although many... more

I have always been sceptical about packages over the Festive period. Today we have returned from a wonderful trip at the Marcliffe and my scepticism has been blasted away. Even though the function was for a large number of people the food was exceptional. Breakfast the next morning was a delight with all staff wishing you a happy New Year... more

We stayed at the Marcliffe for one night in December as we were attending a wedding at the hotel the next day. The public areas downstairs are fantastic. Traditional 'country house' style decor with plenty of big comfy sofas and open fires. We arrived after midnight due to a delayed flight but staff were helpful and attentive, and we were... more

Extremely good hotel. Upgraded to a suite - very pleased. Nice spa shame there was no pool. The restaurant was excellent and the guest living room (bar) was a great place to sit and chill out. Breakfast was good - staff at reception a little bit condescending and did not follow up with requests. more
