You simpy cannot beat the sophisticated but relaxed elegance of Ardoe House. The Cocktail Bar is one of the best in Scotland--and so few can even come close. The whisky selection is a like a library worth reading. The local dishes paired expertly with worldly wines poured by well-trained staff will make you feel you have found a luxurious retreat.... more

I booked this hotel knowing it had received mixed reviews. I have to say that I was disappointed with the hotel, though the other three in our party were all very pleased. There was a wedding (or two?) reception going on while we were there, so it was busy, but we weren't wedding guests. We had booked two rooms, which... more

We've recently been to the Ardoe Hotel and stayed the night. And we too were guests at a wedding, and had a wonderful time. It's a beautiful, older hotel with gorgeous period features. Yes the room was a little dated, but very comfortable and spotlessly clean - and to be honest since we were there as guests of our nephew,... more

I stayed at the Mercure hotel with my husband as we were attending a wedding that weekend. It was the third time i had stayed in the hotel with the first two times being pretty avergage, but that was when the hotel was owened by the MacDoanld group. the hotel is a lovely buidling, but the bedroom decor is pretty... more

Similar to another review on this site - while the room seemed clean - if you looked closely the walls were grubby. The bathroom was clearly not up to par - side of bath needed varnishing; the heated towel rail was not working; the vent was broken; grout was moldy, and all in all a sense of it being slightly... more

Stayed here two nights and found this hotel disappointing because of the service. The staff were not from Scotland and seemed completely overwhelmed by the crowd they were trying to serve. This is a tour bus hotel. I was awakened several times by yelling and doors slamming. I called the front desk but no one answered. The breakfast and restaurant... more

We were lucky to get a late deal rate (£70) for a double room and found it excellent value for money. The setting was great, grounds lovely and quiet and the real bonus was a good pool with spa. I spent 2 quiet hours going from pool to jacuzzi to steam room and then sat with an excellent coffee outside... more

We stayed here on our 5th Wedding Anniversary - it was 5 years ago that day since we married there. Our room was lovely and clean, looking out to the lucious green grass and beyond. It was very quiet too. We didnt eat here at night having already booked at a local resturaunt. Parking was safe. There was a wedding... more

My husband and I stayed here on Valentines Day, we had a special rate of dinner bed and breakfast for £135, the room was not luxurious but very spacious and clean, the bathroom was very clean and had a double shower. The food was excellent - we had the special champagne valentine menu and the service by the staff was... more

No-one can fault th elocation or the sheer glory of the buiding itself. The public areas live up to expectation (hall, function rooms, restaurant) but I found the room, particularly the bathroom, quite disappointing. Food very good - dinner and breakfast. THe bedroom - we had a 'standard' I presume room - no 117 if anyone is interested!! Good size,... more
