This place is so lovely and cozy so was perfect last week when it was raining. I had a lovely time here as there is a guitar, movies, nice place to cook and a cozy living room. The Copenhagen girl working there was so lovely. I travel a lot and this was one of the nicest hostels I have stayed... More

It's always a bit hit and miss with hostels but this one I would go back to and recommend in a heartbeat. Location is perfect; 2 minutes from the City centre yet far enough that it's very quiet at night. The hostess is beyond kind and very interesting to talk to; she's travelled a great deal and is always happy... More

Stayed here with a large group of friends. We were split between 3 rooms which was fine. Girl who greeted us was friendly & welcoming. Bedrooms, bathrooms & kitchen all very clean & well looked after. Plenty of bread, eggs, yoghurts & juice for breakfast. Only area for concern related to unexpected extra guests. As one managed to access our... More

I loved staying there, this hostel is more like a big house with lots of nice people living and working there. It is very close to the city center, breakfast included, friendly owners. I enjoyed staying there very much!

Steve who runs the place is a great guy. Funny, welcoming, informative, and very helpful. The facilities were great. A better bed than I have at home even. The crowd was great too, and I usually steer clear of hostel crowds and prefer to do my own thing. But the small size of the place was conducive to developing friendships... More

Fresh baked bread, jam, eggs, and coffee for breakfast at a hostel? Loved it! Steve was an excellent host and told us about the best places in town to visit and Ruairí did an amazing tour of the walls

In what 5 star hotel to you get fresh baked bread in the morning, and the use of a guitar? Derry Independent Hostel for sure. Had a smashing time, met some lovely people, and Rauraigh o'Hara does a very informative guided tour of the walls of Derry. All the best, Henry Lawrence (Comrade Sir Henry)

The Hostel is located just a few minutes away from the city centre and we found it quite quickly. It's a beautiful place with loads of little decorations which make the Hostel a comfortable place to stay in. Our room was a nice and clean four beds dorm. Steve had just baked fresh bread the other day and with free... More

Definitely my favourite hostel in Ireland so far. Very homely and quiet - which suited us for the night. Very modern kitchen, with a wonderful spread for breakfast in the morning, including delicious homemade bread. I also recommend doing the walking tour and visiting the Free Derry museum. Derry's both ancient and modern history is endlessly intriguing.

This was my favourite hostel on my ireland trip. Its small and has very friendly and accommodating owners. It has a real travellers ambiance. The hostel is decorated from top to bottom with travel souveniers that the owners have collected from their own years of travelling. I loved the little travel library where they have left their old lonely planet... More
