Stayed in the house around the corner from the main house - this is the better one. Had a double room which was fine although none are en-suite - for the price its good value. Big sized kitchen downstairs - free tea/coffee/toast. The house is a 5 min walk from the Walls of Derry. REcommend the cheap breakfast in the... more

We stayed in the annex to this hostel which was on the whole fairly clean with good bathroom facilities. The mattress however (a double in room 2, be warned) should have been consigned to the tip months ago. I had the worst night's sleep of the whole holiday. more

4 of stayed at Derry City Independent Hostel for one night in early April and left with mixed feelings. The pros: Very helpful staff - showed us lots of the local sites on a map, friendly; Great location; street parking very easy to find; near a large Tesco, pubs, city walls, murals; The oks: Rooms were generally clean, if a... more

We loved this hostel!!! We experienced nonstop fun, comfort, travel advice, and hospitality from the moment we arrived until the moment we left to head to our next travel destination. The hostel has two properties. The main property (on James St.) houses the dorm rooms and fun common spaces while the second property (around the corner) is a townhouse with... more

One more really good review for this hostel!! We staid in a small double bedroom with cracking bed but almost got the bathroom just for both of us. The house is really nice, you can watch TV, go on Internet, help yourself in the fridge for the breakfast (exept the too old milk forgotten in the fridge...). Kitchen, garden and... more

If you picture a big youth hostel with lots of rooms and tenants, and a sweet social vibe, you picture this hostel. The innkeeper was a really cool Aussie, and its in an area that provides more than just "Take-Aways" for late night eats. Due to the price, you really can't complain much if you are aiming for a hostel... more

After travelling around Europe and UK for 2 years, this would have to be the best hostel I have stayed in. The double rooms are fantastic! The kitchen and outdoor area is great. Free breakfast and internet. The kiwi host was really lovely. The bathrooms were really nice and the huge bath was a bonus. Would recommend this to anyone! more

First, we have to mention Regan, who was running the place when we visited. One thing that we loved about this place is that there is no actual reception desk as in other hostels. It is very laid-back and Regan will sit down with you upon arrival and go over a map of the city, suggesting places of interest. It... more

We spent 3 nights in this hostel last september. it was definitely one of the best places that we stayed on our trip around ireland for 3 weeks. The staff were super friendly and the decor in the hostel would beat most boutique hotels hands down, though the shared bathroom facilities wouldn't be for everyone. The location is very central,... more
