The house is immaculate inside and you feel as if on the set of Downton Abbey! Cosy rooms are well equipped. Sitting room & dining hall are gorgeous and make you feel at home. Two nights would be adequate for this town as there is just enough to see and do here. Breakfast has fresh yogurt and fruit and very... More

What a find in a less popular part of the city! A real hidden gem of a B and B! A beautiful cellar room, clean and immaculately presented. Well organised, efficient and pleasant staff eager to ensure your comfort and needs. Quiet location within walking distance of everything you need to see in Londonderry. Downsides - restricted parking outside and... More

We loved the charm, great service and hospitality, and would recomend this place to stay to anyone, lot's of option's, the lady run's a good business, and it's very handy to the old city and sight's, we did the bus tour aswell, which was great, Derry is a very worthwhile place to tourist's that want to learn all the different... This is a long overdue review. Last year my daughter, her husband , my husband and I had a wonderful holiday in Cathedral Cottage in London Street. The house had 2 bedrooms and 2 en-suite bathrooms and had every facility supplied. It was very conveniently located, 5 mins to all the main shops. It was lovely and quiet at night.... More

We had a wonderful 5 days at Merchant's House. Food and conversation at breakfast were excellent. Room was beautiful and comfortable. Hosts Joan and Peter were accommodating and gracious. Location is convenient for walking to city center (and bus station) and the University. We highly recommend this excellent B & B.

Thank you Joan and Peter for a welcoming stay. Loved your company and wit, and will hopefully be back after the summer. We thoroughly enjoyed your beautiful home made yoghurt and fruit, and the Full Breakfast certainly kept us going for the whole day. Many thanks to you both, you certainly have a lovely home.

On our tour of Ireland in 2012, this was the only accommodation we had not pre booked before setting off from Scotland. We called the day before our arrival in Derry and were delighted to discover there was a vacant room to be had. We had planned to stay only one night but, due to the lovely room, the low... More

Peter's wife was out of town for the weekend so Merchant's house was actually supposed to be closed. Peter opened up a room for us anyway and the 4 of us stayed in a two-double bed room in the basement, separate from the main sitting area (beautifully decorated and comfortable). Wifi not available in basement room, had to go upstairs... More

We arrived at the Saddlers House, the other location owned by Joan and Peter, and were greeted by Joan and her large English Bulldog. That was a bit disconcerting since both my husband and I have serious allergies, but she quickly informed us that we would be staying at the property around the block, Merchant's House. Whew.... We drive around... More

As their website advertizes, this is not for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. The flights are steep and narrow, the bathrooms in each of our two rooms were very small for one person at a time. Peter is an excellent host who is very helpful and knowlegable and makes the stay more comfortable. The breakfasts are fine with nice... More
