My husband & I stayed here last week and we had a wonderful stay. The whole property was clean and the rooms and beds were cozy and warm. From there you can easily see the Mourne Mountains. The place is very calming and relaxing with friendly staff. They also cook big servings of good breakfast to start your day. I... More

A very comfortable guest house, with pleasant hospitality, ideally located for access to The Mournes, Tolleymore, Newcastle and Castlewellan Country Park. We enjoyed an upgrade to one of the newly refurbished rooms which was comfortable, spacious and very well appointed. Breakfast is a grand affair, with a wide variety of options. In addition to the guest rooms, there is a... More

Stayed for one night in this lovely country house. The location was perfect as we were going to a concert in the town centre. The views and garden were fantastic! Our room was newly renovated and finished to a very high standard. Comfortable bed, gorgeous ensuite and super soft carpet! The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast the... More

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Newcastle. The hotel was set in fields just a couple of miles from the town center. The hotel had a very nice, friendly feel to it and we got a warm welcome and showed to our room on arrival. The room was a good size, bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows.... More

My husband booked a night in the Briers at the last minute and we were so glad he did. Warm welcome, beautifully decorated room with a supremely comfortable bed and a pristine ensuite. Beautiful view of mountains from window and absolute peace and quiet all night. Breakfast was delicious - brilliant fresh fruit salad and amazing home made lemon marmalade.... More

A rambling house on farmland outside the town was a quiet retreat from the thousands of tourists that visit Newcastle on a summer weekend. The rooms were a good size, some with baths and breakfast was comprehensive. The owner did some washing for us but charged £20!!!! Should have asked first.

The good: clean, tranquil, relaxing atmosphere, very pleasant and helpful staff, generally nice rooms with a big bathroom, a great garden by the house. TV in room. I understand there are also 2 luxury rooms now available. The bad: The hot food was not the best, but the staff are extremely helpful and hardworking nonetheless. Apart from the cooked food,... More

My wife and I spent a night at the Briers. This BB does not live up to the Trip Advisor reviews. As a frequent traveller and member of Trip Advisor we felt that this BB was average at best. I am sure the new owner, Maureen, is doing her best to update and make the guest house her own. She... More

Maureen took over this business a few months ago and she is very active in changing things (new carpets were being fitted whilst we were there). A Pleasant and clean room with very satisfactory breakfasts. Location would suit walkers and those interested in visiting local attractions. Decent local restaurants need to be pre-booked as there are not many of them... More
