I'm not sure what was better--the accommodations--or Anne, the proprietress. We loved the cottage and Anne couldn't have been more helpful. She had even picked up some groceries for us! We loved the setting, the lovely cottage, the coal fire, and the surrounding area.

My partner booked this break as she had wanted to try out the cottages for quiet a while. The rooms are clean , neat , tidy & comfortable. The views are to die for & the open fire just makes the nights in cosy. Close to a few good restaurants & bars & not to far away from Newcastle itself.... More

more than we hoped for..........the cosy fireplace.......spacious kitchen....enough room in the upstairs bathroom and bedrooms. enjoyed the historical aspect of the widows' cottages. came to play the famous royal county down golf course, which was on my bucket list and loved the town and talking to the nice neighbors.

My wife booked Widows Row for a night as a birthday treat for me in June 2013.
