Last minute booking with a mate for a night out to take in the sights and sounds of Newcastle. The Lady who answered the call could only offer us in her words " A very basic twin room" for the night. We decided to take the booking but were prepared for disappointment. I can honestly say the room was ideal,... More

When in Newcastle i never pass this hotel. Have been going here for many years. Very homely friendly staff, good food & always worth a visit. Very well positioned along the sea front. The place hasnt changed over time still make it feel like a home away from home.

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel whilst attending a wedding nearby. My wife and on a b&b basis. We arrived and we're promptly checked in and shown to our room which had a beautiful sea view. The room was clean and comfortable. We didn't arrive back until the early hours and slept well. We had breakfast which... More

The food in the Avoca took me back to memories of Sunday tea in Northern Ireland. I had lunch and ordered a ham salad and got one that might have been served by my Mum 30 years ago. It was a wonderful blast from the past. Beautiful tasty home cooked ham decorated with a pineapple slice, crispy lettuce, sliced tomatoes,... More

Having visited the restaurant we were greeted with a grunt by the single member off floor staff. Clearly this lady needs some customer service skills. Amongst the welcomed greeting knives and forks where flung on the table and we were left for 20 minutes until she reappeared looking miserable as per usual with the phrase "what you want". Through the... More

We went here for a family meal after a day out in Newcastle on Easter Tuesday. There was 8 of us and we all had a great meal. Even the fussy children ate most of their food :). The lady that looked after us was very helpful and pleasant with her special brand of humour. We all enjoyed our experience... More
