The only saving grace for this hotel is the wonderful friendly & very accommodating staff. Both the interior & exterior are in dire need of major refurbishment and updating, currently it resembles a hotel from 1970 that hasn't been touched since it opened! Pleasant comfortable Hotel with friendly and obliging staff in an excellent central location. Lots of shopping outlets close by and a good choice of pubs and restaurants. Two minute walk to promenade and pleasant beach. Mourne mountains are spectacular

Had an absolute fantastic stay. Staff there went out of their way to ensure we were all looked after so well between room service, late check outs and I found all to be extremely friendly and utterly obliging. Location is superb and rooms are nice and clean.

I stayed here my first night/first time in Ireland, an older woman traveling solo...my GPS wouldn't work off the plane, so i'd been winging it all day, from Dublin airport to Newgrange and Meath, and then to Newcastle, figuring out driving left and navigation at the same time...I was within sight of the hotel and just couldn't figure out one more... Although this hotel could do with a lick of paint and updated a bit, my room was clean and had everything I needed. I stayed here 18th-19th August, the location was very good, the staff friendly and helpful and the food was very good and reasonably priced. The cooked breakfast in the morning was served nice and hot as cooked... More
