When booking, this hostel seemed to offer exactly like what we wanted - a double en-suite room within a hostel so that we could have our own privacy but be able to cook our own meals. However, it was much much more than this. We had a room with stunning view of the beach and Fairhead. The kitchen is of... More

If you are traveling in Antrim, there is a good chance you will find yourself in Ballycastle, home to the Rathlin Island Ferry and well situated along the Causeway Coast. I found myself there in July 2015, relatively early in a lengthy trip around Ireland and had the good fortune to stay at Ballycastle Backpackers. I had a quiet single... More

This hostel has been recently refurbed and is quite amazing... With no intention of giving hostels a bad name, his is not your typical hostel: our room was beautiful, peaceful, comfy and spacious. Cooking facilities are top quality; very friendly atmosphere, but small enough that you can use this as a peaceful getaway. Perfect location for seaside, trips to Rathlin... More

Stayed there last night, arrived early evening without a booking, but the hostess could not be more welcoming or helpful. Fantastic facilities like the clean & modern kitchen, lovely cosy sitting room on first floor & clean hot showers. I stayed in a comfortable bed that was pre-made (some places have required that I put on & remove sheets). Great... More

We enjoyed 3 nights here. It was comfortable, clean and friendly. Being able to use the kitchen for breakfast & a cuppa was handy. The lounge is homely too. There are also cafes a few doors away that serve lovely breakfasts. It was a perfect location for our needs, in central Ballycastle. We'll return if we ever need accommodation in... More

This certainly didn't feel like a hostel, we had a great in-suite room, nicely furnished, new bathroom and good bed/bedding. Very highly recommended. The owner was also lovely - gave us recommendations for sites and restaurants. Breakfast was self-service and complete.

A must stay here if you want really comfortable accommodation at a really low cost. Anne Marie was like me ma. Looked after my friend and I. We stayed at Ballycastle Backpackers one night end of April 2015 in order to hike the next day from Ballycastle to the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and continuing to Giant's Causeway. The hostel manager, Anne Marie, was absolutely super helpful and friendly as she not only recommended a cool pub in Ballycastle (see the review for O'Connors Bar) but also ended... More
