We stayed at Ballycastle Backpackers one night end of April 2015 in order to hike the next day from Ballycastle to the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and continuing to Giant's Causeway. The hostel manager, Anne Marie, was absolutely super helpful and friendly as she not only recommended a cool pub in Ballycastle (see the review for O'Connors Bar) but also ended... More

We stayed at Ballycastle Backpackers in the beginning of September 2014. We booked online and the hostel manager, Anne Marie, was very efficient in getting back to us about making a reservation. She also provided us with excellent directions on how to get from Dublin to Ballycastle. Check-in was easy, we just had to make a call for her to... More

Many thanks for your kind review, I am really pleased you got the benefit of staying with us rather than doing the quick sight seeing tour of the coast.. We are looking forward to March 2015 when our new building extension to the hostel is completed. Happy travels. More

We called in on our along the coastal route, found the owner very friendly and helpful. The location is amazing looking over the water and sandy beach. The place is clean with a kitchen and shops near by, if on a budget you will be able to cook. Or there are many food places near by if you want to... More

Ballycastle Backpackers is a warm and friendly hostel. I had not stayed at a hostel for over 30 years. The rooms were comfortable and the amenities were modern and in excellent working condition. It was a very welcoming hostel. Well located for access to the town and also Rathlin Island and the tourist information centre. There was plenty of information... More

Everything you need is provided and you are nearly on the beach when you leave the hostel. There is a water basin in each room which is very convenient ! It was a little bit quiet when I was there but no doubt the hostel can be full of life and very welcoming.

This is a basic hostel: very clean and quiet with adequate rooms and showers and bathrooms separate, but a sink in our private room. Basic toast, cereal, and coffee/tea available anytime. We arrived at 10 pm and were cheerfully greeted and offered tea or coffee or cereal or oatmeal. Aside from the great location for walking to a park and... More

Thanks so much to Ballycastle Backpackers for making our family trip to NI wonderful. The location couldn't be better - right across the street from the beach, playground and ferry harbour - cafes, coffee places and a grocery store several doors over. Very comfortable lounge and quite newly redecorated and attractive all round. Bring some warm pjs as the rooms... More

This is a small youth hostel run almost single-handedly by its owner, Anne Marie. The personal touch makes a difference. When we arrived, the hostel was empty so Anne Marie gave us two of the best rooms in the house instead of the one family room we asked for. The rooms were of a good size and very comfortable and...
