Stayed with my wife for a birthday/ anniversary celebration and had an amazing time at the Merchant.(special note of thanks for the lovely touch with the balloons and chocolates in our room) Everything was perfect, from the arrival with friendly and courteous desk staff, through to the concierge who showed us round the room. The rooms themselves are huge and... More

What an impressive Victorian facade! It had been a bank before. The facade was along Waring - but the "real" entrance, on the new wing, was on the side along narrow Skipper Road. This Skipper Road entrance led directly to the reception whereas the grand stairs of the Victorian facade led to the Great Room, a magnificent dining place that's... More

This is a beautiful historic hotel in Belfast's city center. Our room was beautiful and well furnished. The bath was luxurious. The cocktail bar and restaurant are very good. However, it was the staff that made this hotel special for us. I must admit that in all my years of traveling, I've never had the front desk clerk to introduce... More

For a special occasion this is your best choice in Belfast. Style, comfort and indulgence. It's not cheap but, every now and then, it is so worth it. Would recommend a beer in the attached 'Cloth Ear' pub which is attached to the hotel. ,

Waited for ages for an excuse to go to the merchant and when visiting Christmas markets decided to call in...we just wanted a drink and asked for a cocktail menu... Took a while to get them and only stayed for one as they used up all our money....

I spent a two night weekend stay with an old friend with whom I hadn't been in Belfast for 30 years, so it was time to go back! We had a wonderful twin room in the art deco end of the hotel, definitely a fantastic choice. From the room we could just about see the Albert Clock to the left.... More

Spent two nights here on business and loved every minute of my stay. The hotel is a quirky mixture of art deco and Victorian, but it works. The rooms are very large and beautifully decorated and well appointed. The Great Room Restaurant is exceptional - both the food and service. Love the bar also. The staff at the front desk,... More

Loved our stay at the Merchant Hotel. Amazingly spacious room with state of the art amenities and funishings. Felt very special. expensive art deco rooms but worth it for noteable occasions. Fabulous location as close to pubs, restaurants and city centre and all attractions. Service first rate and food top notch. We hope to be back one day. Thanks for... More

I often stay in Belfast on business, however if my wife is joining me and we are staying more than 1 night we will more often than not stay here. Customer service and attentiveness from staff is excellent. Rooms are generous and inviting. I myself prefer the Art Deco rooms over the Victorian but both are exquisite. The cocktail bar... More

We stayed at the Merchant for 3 nights in July and loved every minute. The hotel has been fantastically decorated and maintained; in keeping with the historic building without compromising on comfort and quality. The Great Room is possibly my favourite place to eat in Northern Ireland, and with Bert's Jazz Bar, the Cloth Ear, the Cocktail Bar and the... More
