I spent 3 nights in The Merchant in June 2009, This was my 4th trip in as many weeks and had stayed in the other 3 big hotels in Belfast. This hotel beats the others hands down on everything. I stayed in the Larkin suite and my colleague in the Brian Friel. The ceiling was approx 16ft tall, beautifully decorated... more

What spolied the stay slightly for us was that the TV in the room did not have cable or satellite TV, nor was there a kettle to make tea or coffee. Whilst I realise that... more

My daughter and I stayed in a gorgeous, spacious twin room for the night before her small, intimate wedding. The staff were so courteous, helpful, welcoming and professional throughout. The splendour of The Merchant could be a bit intimidating as it's in a league of it's own but unlike the few other 5 star hotels we've visited, the welcome and... more

This was my second time staying in The Merchant with my wife and this time we had our 10 month old with us. The hotel could not have been more helpful, everything was set up for our baby, changing mat, bath, cot, wipes, fridge, kettle, bottle warmer, baby bath and lotion and they arranged a baby sitter for us. It... more

Expat home to visit family + treated ourselves to a night in the Merchant. I've stayed in 5 star hotels before, but this was in a different league. Plus we had dinner and breakfast beside Sir Michael Parkinson. more
