Went for afternoon tea for my birthday. The food was great! However the teapot hadn't been polished and was covered in water stains and the gold details on crockery where very chipped (which surprised me considering this is meant to be a five star hotel) clearly no attention is paid to detail! The tables where also far too close together... More

Afternoon tea was excellent, offered more sandwiches, scones, cream and pastries. Given boxes for breads and pastries to take home. The staff were both efficient and discrete Such a lovely experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending afternoon tea at the Merchant.

From check in to check out everything was perfect @ the Merchant. From the reception, to the bar staff everyone made us feel very welcome, nothing seemed like too much bother. Our room was spacious and had a lovely 'Old' feeling with lots of original features. The bath was magnificent and absolutely huge. I did feel like the room had... More

Stayed here with some girlfriends. Early check in was accommodated and from the start the service was impeccable. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the attention to detail was very impressive. We had afternoon tea in the grand hall which was amazing and then later that night we ate in berts Jazz bar. The whole... More

A stunning hotel with excellent staff and facilities. We only came here for cocktails but would have enjoyed staying longer. The bar had a very pleasant and welcoming scene, especially with the open fire place. The seating area was full and we had a short wait to be seated. The cost is very expensive however well worth it for a... More

Visited The Bar for cocktails, the waitress was very attentive, the bar snacks and the glass of water offered before you order is a lovely touch. The vodka Martini was very good, the surroundings and ambience are very special. I do love this place and it is a bit of a jewel in Belfasts crown.

the grandiose building does not fail to impress especially the Great Room. I have stayed in both styles of rooms but my personal favourite are the Art Decor Rooms rather than the Victorian Rooms. the spa is excellent with a well equipped gym also an added benefit. The team are professional at all times but also friendly and confident to... More
