In spite of all of the bad reviews, my wife and I stayed there on the night of 18 September 2009. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful (nothing was too much trouble) they carried our luggage to and from the room and were more than happy to answer all of our questions. The room was exceptionally clean and... more

Walked into this 'hotel', walked out without staying. The Helga lodge - (mis) advertises itself as approved by the Northern Irish Tourst Board, who oddly enough do not 'approve' this hotel and have had many complaints about the place. Helga Lodge also advertises itself as a 'Citilodge' - hmmmmm. If you don't mind a charmless throwback to the swirly carpets,... more

Belfast Ireland, Helga’s Lodge My mother and I decided to take a backpacking trip through Ireland, deciding that spontaneity was the way for us we caught a ferry from Stranraer Scotland to Belfast. Upon arriving we caught a taxi into town. The driver was really good, loaded our bags, than helped us to find a place for the night. He... more

We arrived back from Ireland yesterday. Sadly, our intial euphoria at being in a new exciting city was very short lived. On arrival at the said B & B (having been shown to our rooms) utter disgust is the only way in which to describe our disappointment at the state and cleanliness (lack of) of the rooms we were presented.... more

The customer service offered here is dreadful. Had to cancel suddenly to attend a funeral. No consideration was given - they charged anyway. No bother to even email a reply when I explained the situation. Disgusting. more

Fortunately we booked only one night, because the service was really bad: unhelpful staff, bed with hair, doors broken and people shouting on their rooms. NOT recommeandable at all. Avoid it. more

I had booked a room with Helga Lodge for 2 nights next weekend but I just came across this website, with all the negative reviews, and decided to cancel my stay. When I rang, they had no record of my reservation, so it seems as though the suspect record-taking other people mentioned hasn't improved very much. Not very reliable! more

Got a double room for 60 euro. The room was small and not too clean. The toilet was like a closet in the wall with a shower plate embedded in it and a cheap toilet seat 10 cm from it. The closet-toilet looked old, dirty and ugly. The sheets had HOLES(!!!) and I found HAIRS (!!!!) on them. The fire... more
