So many negative comments, yet I found the guest house absolutely fine - clean, cosy, convenient, and affordable. I also can't thank the staff enough for their warmth during our week's stay. If there were one or two minor things eg TV remote missing, or not quite enough tea bags in room, these were swiftly put right without fuss, and... More

This place is carefully decorated and in a beautiful old building. Some of it is starting to look a little old and tired, but it is fairly clean and functional. However, the beds are the worst! We stayed in room 8 (triple) and the mattress springs dug into your back. So uncomfortable! The wifi doesn't work in the bedrooms, we... More

This place was horrible to stay in. Don't waste your money. We had booked this on booking.com and had reserved 2 rooms (1 that was a double and the other a triple both with their own bathrooms). I called that day to confirm our reservations and was told that everything was great. When we arrived we found out that the... More

Everything Bill WJP had to say I fully support, in fact I am sure we had the same room. The kettle had to be placed on the floor because the cord was too short, the shelf at the hand basin was on a 15 degree angle, the pillows had seen many many tired heads and the springs in the mattress... More

My wife had already booked this before I read the previous reviews (mostly bad!). I don't agree with the harshness of many previous reviews. The house is gorgeous and in a beautiful upper class neighbourhood in Belfast. Even inside, the house is quite nice and features very tall ceilings and classic furniture. The coolest aspect is perhaps an antique toilet.... More

Good location, very quiet, and once upon a time very salubrious; walking distance from University, Ulster Museum, Ryan's Pub, and solid walk to the City. The outside of Camera House, the lounge, and the breakfast room are great. The staff really helpful. There was free WiFi. Breakfast was good. But the place is tired and worn, and really needs some... Be aware, this property is deceptive. Looks good from the outside, yet shabby inside. No hot water, shower not working as you would expect (apparently requires you to hold the on button in for half a minute or so to work, yet there was no sign to advise this!!!). Beds awful, and just not a good experience overall. If you... More

Greeting upon arrival was nice. When we got up to the room it had been half cleaned and we had to wait like grapes for the person who I guessed was the manager to get clean pillow cases. There was a plastic bag full of some sort of used soap on top of the toilet which had probably been left... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Camera Guest House is an authentic 19th-century Victorian building situated in the leafy suburbs of South Belfast. It takes its name from the many photographers who stayed here during the 'troubles' who wanted to avoid the bigger, easily-targeted hotels.
