Father and mother of the bride, bride and bridesmaids stayed the two nights before daughters wedding across the road in the the church at Christchurch. John and Viv made it an experience never to forget for all of us. Nothing was too much trouble, fantastic rooms beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts to die for (and with we tried nearly... more

Our room was large, dual aspect with great views over the Bristol channel. The thoughtful touches set this establishment apart with bath robes, a decent hair dryer, bottled water, fresh milk and chocolate brownies. Guests have exclusive use of a lovely lounge Breakfast used top notch ingredients cooked beautifully. In addition to our order there was a selection of five... more

I found The Old Rectory whilst searching for somewhere to stay in order to visit the U2 concert at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Hotel prices in Cardiff were very high and we ideally wanted somewhere quiter, so I was looking for a workable alternative. I was impressed by the good reviews on Tripadvisor for the Old Rectory. Despite reservations... more

My wife and I recently visited the UK and this is the place where we stayed during the fourth night of our trip. We got a bit lost driving though Wales and we didn’t arrive until 11:00 PM at night. We called ahead to let them know that we would be arriving late, and they were very understanding which was... more

Viv and John own the B+B and are the most wonderful people. From the warmest welcome to the fabulous rooms and bathrooms, to the best breakfast ever, this B+B couldn't be any better. Stay here for business or pleasure and you will be returning again and again. It is the only place to stay in Newport! Enjoy! more

The purpose of our visit to Wales was for me to play the 2010 golf course on Saturday hence we deciced to make a long weekend of it and arrived on... more

The Old Rectory has everything - tastefully decorated, comfortable, immaculate rooms with stunning views over Newport and beyond. There is even a friendly village pub across the road, serving tasty, home-cooked food. But what makes this place really special are the owners, Viv and John. We stayed with them for three nights while on business in Newport and were immediately... more

We stayed at the Old Rectory for one night. The room was light, quiet and beautiful and had a stunning view with a washbasin in the room. The bathroom was huge and immaculately clean (as everything else). Downstairs was a pretty lounge. Also breakfast was very good with a choice of full English, omelette, various types of fruit salad, juices,... more

What a wonderful place to stay. Felt immediately at home, I only stayed one night, however I will stay longer the next time. Yes I intend to go back again just to stay at Viv and John's B & B. Great base to travel around from. Even an offer of a lift to the station if I wanted to go... more
