This was our second stay at a B&B rather than a 4/5 star hotel, The Old Rectory is a large property set in a high position with panoramic views across Gwent and the River Severn, our hosts Viv and John made us feel very welcome offering afternoon tea and homemade cake on our arrival. The property is very spacious and... More

An outstanding B&B! The house is immaculate, beautifully furnished and kept. Viv and John are so caring and friendly that the taxi driver who came to pick us up at the end of our stay thought our relatives were waving us off. I thought the previous reviews might be too good to be true, but I absolutely agree with all... More

We had the delightful experience of staying at The Old Rectory back in 2008, and loved it so much that when we needed a place to stay back in Wales, there was no question about where to go. Viv and John, and the old house itself, remain warm, welcoming, and utterly delightful. Situated up on the ridge at Christchurch, you... More

It is hard to add anything to the wonderful reviews alrady written. This place is a gem. So clean and comfortable. Everything you could ever want for a night stay away from home. The breakfast was delicious and so well presented. Viv and John were excellent hosts and their home was really beautiful. More

The Old Rectory is a beautiful house, and the rooms are stunning - free wi-fi, long distance views, ultra modern bathrooms, great breakfast cooked to order, and convivial hosts Viv and John. This is the best bed and breakfast I've ever stayed in, and is on the "return list". Couldn't fault it, and it's worthy of six stars, never mind... More

So near to Newport and yet so in the country. Unbelievable. The Old Rectory is perfect and Viv and John the very best hosts. They love what they are doing and it shows in every respect. We relaxed more here than at any other holiday stop in the UK in 20 years. More

Viv and John are superb, great friendly service. We had a great time. We stayed 3 nights and everything changed everyday, and great cookies/biscuits! The breakfast was very enjoyable no matter what one chose. I come from Newport and there is no better place to anchor. We did some splendid walks - try the "14 Locks" . More

Two lovely bedrooms with stunning views and a fantastic breakfast to boot! Viv and John Peters make you feel extremely welcome and are expert guides if you require any information about what to do and see in the area, whether it be a cultural or gastronomic experience that you desire! The Old Rectory is situated in a quiet rural location... More
