We loved this hotel! Based on other reviews and given its inner city location we expected it to be noisy, but it wasn't. It was surprisingly quiet and we had a great, undisturbed night's sleep (admittedly it was a Monday). Our room was warm, clean and comfortable with little extras like biscuits and bottled water. Yes, the floorboards creak and... More

Away on a business trip. Nice pub, average rooms. clean but need a little modernising. very annoying problem is my room is at the front of the pub (facing the town centre), only has single glazing (it's a lloyds bar too plus the actual pub downstairs has double glazing!) no blind (has brackets for it) so have to keep curtains... I rarely write a review but I can't keep this to myself. Yes it's cheap but you'll understand why if you make the mistake of staying here. If you want sleep, forget it! Lumpy beds, pillows are like tracing paper. Disgusting mouldy windows which are single glazed which means you can hear everything. Yes I'm aware it's a city centre... More

My fiancee and i recently stayed at the Queens Hotel, Newport for three nights Friday-Monday in order to go and watch a Six Nations rugby game in nearby Cardiff. The hotel is easy to find from Newport Train Station, it is approximately 2-4 minutes walk away from the train station. The location is good, it has shops, takeaways and other... More

Had a brilliant stay in this hotel. As our group had the whole hotel booked, noise was not an issue and location was excellent. Rooms were clean and presentable and fit for purpose. Hotel staff were very helpful and courteous and could not be faulted and did everything to make our stay enjoyable. To a further extent the bar staff... More

Beds clean and comfortable but seriously in need of some soundproofing of the windows etc! Louts playing loud music in cars and shouting late at night, loud music most of the week. No food as kitchen closed for maintenance but this was not mentioned at time of booking and the sign gets reprinted on a daily basis adding yet more... More

Stayed one night at The Queens, no frills, clean rooms. Everything there for a good night's sleep but no refinement. There was a lot of noise from trolleys being loaded/unloaded outside but was so tired did not keep me awake too long. Was surprised to see a painter painting the corridor walls outside my room at 7.00pm. Had breakfast in... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights between Christmas and new year and felt at home. The accommodation was excellent and the food is terrific value for money. We checked in on a miserable wet winters evening after ten hours of travel and was given a cup of tea at reception to warm us up, a small gesture but it really... More

Stayed here for 2 nights during Christmas week. On arrival were told the loo was broken and someone was coming to fix it, which they did but the loo was ok so not sure what all that was about! We were also warned that a Dj was on in the bar for both evenings. The first night found us listening... More

One night stay in Newport purely as a social outing. Room on the small side but spotless, bed was very comfortable. No complaints as the room was cheap for a Saturday night. We were aware prior to travel that there could be noise from the Wetherspoon's pub 'nightclub' and warned at reception. Didn't hear a thing!! Would stay there again.
