A Typical victorian Bed and and Breakfast, a little bit tied around the edges but quaint. the service was excellent. the beds were comfy, the bathroom spacious and the whole room was clean and tidy. We were made very welcome, all member of the family enjoyed the stay. The Breakfast was Yum Yum Yum. We stayed for two nights three days... more

We have just had a fabulous stay at the Penrhys in Cardiff .The staff were extremely friendly and helpful where nothing requested was too much trouble . The rooms were lovely and clean and the bed very comfortable.Breakfast was so good we had to miss lunch because we couldn't eat another thing until evening. From the minute you walk in the door you can tell the place is in dire need of updating and of a good clean! I thought things would get somewhat better when i got to my room, which was actually quite nice - complete with a 4 poster bed! It was still dirty though and the shower room left a... more

This hotel is in desperate need of upgrading as the decor is shabby and the hotel is not very clean. In our room the carpet edges and skirting boards were thick dust, the bedside cabinet was cracked, and the bathroom floor was filthy. The bath mat was stained, the sink chipped and the loo seat was supposed to be black... more

We were tired and it was late in the day. The entrance was dingy and had a strange smell but there was a vacancy sign. It was the only place that asked for our money up front before we were shown the room. It was horrible. None of the decor colours matched. The mattress was lumpy and smelled musty and... more

A friendly greeting marked a good start to my stay at this really comfortable hotel. The room was nicely decorated and the four-poster bed was really comfortable. I don't tend to sleep well when away from home, but I was out like a light and woke the next morning fully refreshed (in fact, although I was supposed to have left... more

One of the nicest and friendliest B&Bs I've ever stayed in. The landlady was charming, the room bigger and better furnished than I expected for the price, and the decor a kind of twisted OTT Victorian melodrama. Lovely stuff. One thing I'd suggest though is perhaps having a slightly later check-out time on a weekend morning. Having to vacate your... more

Having read the reviews on here I must admit I was dreading my stay at the Penrhys. I had booked at the last minute during a particularly busy time in Cardiff and this was the only place with availability. I needn't have worried, its not THAT bad! The location is easy to get to, and ideal for events at the... more
