I booked a two night stay with taster menu via a living social deal as a treat for my husband's birthday. We had difficulty getting through - no phone answer and no answer to our emails so we contacted the Cardiff Tourist Information Office. We had just about given up hope and were considering other options when the restaurant/hotel phoned... More

This guest house and restaurant has been very tastefully refurbished. The room we stayed in was lovely, very big with a very comfortable bed. We bought a Groupon deal which was extremely good value for money! Although the 7 course "taster" was way too much food for me. I would have been happy to have stayed for the same money... More

We bought a groupon deal which was extremely good value for money. Our room was lovely and really big, from reading previous reviews I think we ended up with one of the best rooms at the front. The owners were extremely accommodating and found us a room at the last minute, my husband who is in the navy only had... More

We chose this resturant and guest house from word of mouth from one of our close friends. Upon our arrival we had a pretty cold reception at the main desk. we wern't asked if we needed anything that would make our stay more comftable. We heared who appered to be the propieter on the telephone speaking in a funny french... More

The Old Post Office looked suspiciously quiet when we arrived. And after trying both doors and circling the building several times the place was clearly empty. After waiting half an hour, checking the date and check-in time (both correct) my boyfriend tried phoning them. He looked at me, stony faced and said that there was a message on their answer... More

Having read many negative reviews on the Old Post Office we went for our Groupon with trepidation, we needn't have worried. It's important to be objective and given the price we paid we were not disappointed, sometimes you have to be realistic and having eaten in Mitchelin starred restaurants I like to think I'm a pretty good judge. The service... More

Took advantage of a "deal" but wish we had stayed at home! The food was mediocre (soup not hot at all and very watery). The room was disgusting with layers of black mould around the window and in the bathroom all over the shower curtain. At no point did any staff ask how things were - food, accommodation or if... When one of our beloved rural post offices closes and is transformed into a chic restaurant with rooms you sense a phoenix arising. This venture could be outstanding and so nearly hit the mark in many ways, but was still a disappointment. A groupon offer for a seven course taster menu with complementary wine and a room and breakfast looked... More

I booked the 7 course tasting menu with matching wine for my boyfriend”s birthday as we had seen excellent reviews. It was the single most dissapointing experience of my life. None of the wines matched the food pairing in the slightest (sweet white wine with neatballs?) The food was simply awful. Course one = pumpkin soup ver underseasoned but at... More

This is a difficult one, on the face of it there wasn't that much wrong, unless you pay the full rack price. We stayed on the groupon offer mentioned below, and based on that it was good value. Good welcome, very pleasant owner. Rooms were basic, they were aiming for chic but the mould in the shower and cheap furniture... More
