From the moment we phoned up enquiring about rooms to the moment we left The Elgano B & B stood up above and beyond everything else in Cardiff. We were greeted by the ever helpfull Tina who went out of her way to make us happy.............even down to ironing one of the lads Shirts. "sorry Tina". The rooms were bright,clean... more

Elgano has been completely renovated, the place was clean, tidy and the staff were friendly and helpful. I wouldn't normally write a review on accomodation, but the recent changes that have obviously taken place here warrant documenting. The room was great, modern and comfortable. Breakfast was good, and the owner was more than happy to help us plan our trip... more

Having read some of the other reviews re the Elgnao guest house we were a little worried as a family member had recommendede it to us and told us to ignore the reviews as it had changed hands/ownership. How glad we were that we did inded make our own midns up as one of teh previous reviews put it, teh... more

Having booked the Crowndale back in May and only finding out that it had changed its name through this website and had no confirmation in writing or email about the booking, I always expected something to be not quite right and was unfortunately proved right! When we arrived, the manageress couldn't find our booking and when she did, she told... more

My partner & I stayed at the Crowndale (now renamed as the Elgano) for 2 nights in June this year. After booking we were a little worried after reading bad reviews; our worries were releaved as soon as we arrived! We were greeted at the door by a very friendly woman who welcomed as and showed us to our room.... more

I recently stayed with my husband at Crowndale for a long weekend. During our stay my husband unfortunately had a heart attack - the New Proprietors could not have been more helpful, accomodating, considerate or hospitable. There is currently renovation work being undertaken to some public areas but the bedrooms were clean and comfortable with excellent on suite facilities. The... more

Things may be looking up for the Crowndale! We were a party of 8 staying at the Crowndale for the rugby weekend in Feb 2008. Admittedly it looked like a building site when we arrived with no kitchen to speak of but the breakfast paninies were delicious and a very innovating way of feeding the guest too. The owners were... more

My wife and I have stayed in numerous hotels around the world. The Crowndale has got to rank amongst the worst. Our only saving grace is that we only booked one night. If we could have found somewhere else at very short notice we would have moved immediately. When we arrived the owner trooped us through the kitchen. I have... more

Management response from
elgano, Owner (new mangement)

As the new owners/proprietors of the previously named 'Crowndale Bed & Breakfast' situated in Cardiff, South Wales, we have been made aware of negative reviews about our new business.. As the business (Crowndale B&B) was not under our management during these reviews being made, we feel that comments are damaging to the future of the newly refurbished and branded Bed...

Stay away from this accommodation at all costs. We went as a hen party and, although not expecting too much, we certainly didn't expect the ceiling in our room to collapse, injuring one member of our party. Although four members of our party were sent to another B&B (which put a huge dampener on the evening) we then had problems... more
