The entrance to hotel was unimpressive and the masonry outside of the building needed attention/cleaning.The reception was on the first floor which was unusual and took a while to locate. However the staff on reception were very helpful. The bedroom was very clean and very acceptable and the price for a 1 night stay was a bargain.

I slayed here on the 1st October for just one night. Check in was quick and efficient. Hotel was well maintained apart from the lift not working. I was lucky and only on the 3rd floor, any higher would of been a nightmare! The room was spacious and well equipped with hairdryer, tv, spacious shower etc. Only down side of... More

I contacted the reservations manager Scott regarding a room for my stay. After much conversation i decided the Junior Suite was the best choice, Scott then qualified my requirements (anniversary) and left a bottle of wine and rose petals on the bed. Fantastic attention to detail and every effort made to go above and beyond the call of duty. Thank... More

First stay at this hotel and with the exception of no car park it is difficult to say anything but praise the hotel. Though the bedrooms show signs of good use they are well fitted out with everything on hand that you might have forgotten to pack. All staff were friendly and helpful, the dining room a relaxing place and... More

The hotel is lovely and modern. Great value for money and has a perfect location if visiting the city centre, close to the shops and restaurants. The room was a perfect size for one night. Only problem was the howling wind through the second set of windows, to prevent the noise we had to open the window resulting in noise... More

I stayed at the Royal on a Thursday evening after a conference at the Millennium stadium. It was perfectly placed between the stadium and the main eating/drinking street with the really well equipped shopping centre at the top end. For a city centre hotel it is extremely reasonably priced. It also has a nice feel of quality about it and... More

What a lovely Hotel, ideal location right in the centre of Cardiff, excellent value for money. Staff are very helpful and really look after you. It 's situated 2 mins from the Central Station & ideal location for restaurants and bars. The room was huge and excellent complementary toiletries and bottle of wine. The only negative comment would be that... More

Stayed in this hotel in October with friends. First impressions was the hotel was nicely decorated and in a good location. The staff were not really very helpful or polite at all. The room was nicely decorated and clean. The cooked part of the breakfast was awful and was obviously cooked and left there throughout the whole of the breakfast... More

Looks ancient from the outside but is fully modernised internally. We had a large double room on the 6th floor, clean spacious, large led tv , plenty of tea and coffee and a complimentary bottle of wine, would not hesitate to use again. Also a lovely breakfast in the captain Scott room

I would like to explain that I review hotels as I find them, not after spending time sorting out all of the problems. I do not expect to have to visit reception multiple times to get everything sorted. Bad first impression as the lift was broken. Not too bad for us as we only needed to carry luggage up one... More
