Stayed here during August 2014 with the Wife. Know Cardiff quite well, so knew the hotel was in the middle of town, but first time staying here. Hotel is a nice old building that has a bit of history and charm about it. Parked in a multistory over the road from the hotel, which is a bit old and smelly... More

Hotel was comfortable and very central to everything in the city centre and close to bus and train station. Only real criticism was that there were two entrances and the one we were directed to was off the mall up steps and then once inside down a flight of stairs to find a lift. There is another entrance off the... More

My partner and I went here for a weekend break in July. Absolutely amazing. The hotel is gorgeous, it is a hidden little gem! We must of walked past it like 5 times in the day before we checked in haha! We didn't know what we were looking for! The entrance we used you have to go up the lift... More

Brilliantly located and very modern hotel. Staff very nice. Rooms very nice and breakfast was excellent. Only crib was aircon didn't work properly in room but didn't need the following night as typical cooler weather resumed;-) The beehive on the top roof is a cool initiative. We got a guided tour from one of the helpful staff/bee keepers. Was very... More

I wrote a mixed review of this hotel last summer after spending a very hot and sleepless night there, so it seems fair that I should redress the balance and comment on my most recent experience. No problems this time - again, it was a warm evening, but the functioning air-conditioning kept the temperature at a bearable level. Too hot... More

I booked the hotel through Booking.com which I've often used and once again their website was spot on with the information regarding The Royal. We parked our car in the Wood St NCP car park which was only a few minutes walk away from the hotel and it was at a discounted price of £12 which you pay the hotel for... My partner booked this hotel as a surprise treat for my 30th birthday based on the reviews - he now wishes that he had booked anywhere else as we had such a disappointing stay and experienced such poor levels of customer service. The main issue is that what they portray as a 'double' or 'king' sized bed in the deluxe... More

Just came back from Cardiff and I can say this hotel was the best choice! It was right in the city centre so you can get to the shops and castle really quick. Staff was really nice and friendly and atmosphere was amazing. Room really quiet and room service was great! We will return!

I couldn't have been happier with our stay, everything was perfect. The room was gorgeous, I didn't want to leave and would happily have stayed a few more nights. I cant wait to go back :):):):):):):):):

Stayed one night, half term deal (included breakfast). Reception staff lovely, v helpful and friendly. Room v good size. Loved the decor! We used the bar as we were given a voucher at checkin. Bar staff lovely and drinks not too expensive. Went down for breakfast, both had a full breakfast which was plenty (also croissants, toast, cereal, fruit and... More
