We stayed here for a relaxing spa holiday. The restaurant staff and food was terrible, the rooms in the chalets need updating, the bar closed at 11pm and was impossible to get drink after that even from room service. This was not a 4 star hotel, Ive staying in much much better. Was diffiult to park and the car park... more

Please be assured that all at the St Mellons Hotel take any comment very seriously, and I can only apologise for the disappointment you felt regarding our restaurant. we are a three star hotel, and offer a 24 hour night service on the bar, and I am unsure as to why you could not get served once the main bar...

I stayed at St Mellons on a business trip for a week in March and generally the place was OK but could have been a lot better. The food, location, setting, facilities (gym and pool) were all excellent, but the attention to detail and staff were not up to scratch. I had to wait approximately 30 minutes to check in,... more

I'm assuming that we must have stopped here at the same time as "tr00dle" below, because we had drunken vomiting wedding guests outside and an unannounced fireworks display (at 10:30pm) as well, that woke up our 8 year old son. Not impressed with that. The drunk guests couldn't be helped, but a warning about the firework display would have been... more

Please be assured that all at the St Mellons Hotel take any comment very seriously, and I can only apologise for the lack of warning regarding the fire works, which were part of one of the wedding celebrations. Thank you for your constructive feedback, and your kind comments regarding the staff, which I have passed onto the relevant departments. Without...

We stayed in this hotel for three nights over a weekend. The first night there was a wedding reception in the hotel, and we had drunk guests hammering on our door and vomiting outside. The second night we were woken by a fireworks display (another wedding party). We were staying in an annexe to the main hotel, perhaps that was... more

Traditional hotel in lovely surroundings. Stayed on 1st floor in spacious bedroom. Hotel is starting to look a bit run down. All of the staff were attentive and eager to serve. Ate 2 nights in the restaurant which was a really pleasant experience. Leisure complex looks gorgeous. Lots of meeting/conference rooms at the hotel and plenty of parking. more

I have stayed here a few times - they have 3 bedded rooms for families (but surprisingly not room for 2 children) but in a seperate building (70s motel-type) from the nice one you see in the photos. But the rooms are comfortable and clean. Geared up for wedding parties it is a beautiful back-drop for photos with nice gardens... more

In July 2007 my partner and I stayed at St Mellons for one night and came away with mixed feelings over this hotel. On a positive note, the food was very good and excellent value. On a negative note, there were no toiletries in the bathroom, only empty dispensers, and the hotel did look a bit shabby and in need... more

Just wanted to add a quick write up on how disappointed I was with this hotel. Granted, my stay was for work purposes so I wasn't in a "holiday" frame of mind but you would think that my food would at least arrive warm and around the same time as my colleagues!! It didn't taste all that great either I... more

Stayed at the St Mellons for one night. Really nice location, out in the country, surrounded by a golf course, so very peaceful. Stayed in the main house; the room was a reasonable size, nicely decorated and with all the usual facilities. Dinner was good; approx £20 for 3 courses, and waiting staff were very attentive. Breakfast was OK although... more

Hotel is shabby for the standard. Food and drinks overpriced. However, staff were friendly and efficient. Only stayed for one night for friend's b'day party so no point in complaining. 'Hot' water was warm enough to wash but too cool to bathe, fixtures and fittings were shakey and hotel had a general run-down feel more
