Reminded me of a Butlins camp, but without the quality you'd associate with that. We specifically requested non-smoking rooms, yet somehow ended up in the chalets (yes you read that right) that were smoking areas. These were horrible quarters. I ended up sleeping in the car, less than ideal! as the staff demonstrated little interest in the fact that there... more

"I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to you for the smoking room you were allocated. we do try to accommodate all requests, but at times when the hotel is fully booked, this is not always possible. I am sorry that you did not like the garden rooms. we are in the process of redecorating these rooms but...

I can't recommend the main part of this hotel too highly, my husband and I read some of the reviews on Trip Advisor which were helpful,as we asked to stay in the main part of the hotel and not the cabins - there was not a problem booking. We found the hotel down a long drive and ended up with... more

This Hotel has plenty of parking and it is free . I do object to paying car park charges. The Building (exterior) is in need of a overhaul. Inside is being spruced up bit by bit. The staff are v nice and v helpful . The food was average but for the rate I paid I have no complaints. £42... more

We went to St Mellons following a spur of the moment to buy a a three-piece suite at Sofas Ltd (?) nearby. Sounds kind of sad I know..... St Mellons is in a beautiful location, and even the "cabin" rooms aren't bad - the evening meal was nothing to write home about, but we had an enjoyable weekend away from... more

I could have complained about many things in this place ...... yes it could do with a complete overhaul .... especially the motel part, where we were. Yes the pipes were a little noisy when used by neighbours (and us for them I guess) ... and as for that bird that kept waking me up at about 0545 each morning... more

My room was booked for me by the organisation I was attending a meeting for and I did not see the rooms in the main hotel as I was allocated what was euphemistically called a 'garden room'. Being in the business I know what a place at this grading should be like. IT WAS'NT. To be fair I'll start with... more

I had the misfortune to stay in one of the cabins in the annexe to the hotel. I cannot begin to describe the horrendous stench of damp and wood rot in the room. I managed to change for the second night, but will make sure that I am never put in this hotel again. The staff were lovely as were... more

I would like to apologise for the odours in the room in question. Every effort is made by our housekeeping team to ensure our rooms are clean and fresh for arrival, but it seems in this instance we slipped up. These are not the standards we are aiming for here, and I am grateful to you for bringing it to...

We stayed at St Mellon's hotel on a Saturday and Sunday night and after reading previous reviews, I was concerned about what we'd find. But am really pleased to say it was all very good. We arrived at 2pm, were promptly checked in by a very helpful friendly young receptionist. Our triple room was in the main building and was... more

Spent a thoroughly enjoyable weekend at St. Mellons, for not a great deal of cash. Guests may use the excellent, reasonably sized indoor pool and facilities of the attached health club on site. Can't comment on the evening meals, but we'll certainly be back. A wedding on each day of stay, but no significant disturbance. Very pleasant staff - though... more

Some of my, Cardiff based, colleagues suggested this as a suitable hotel in which to stay. I can understand how, to a non-resident, this hotel looks really nice. The spa and conference facilities are modern and finished to a high standard. There could not be more of a contrast to the rooms on the other side of the hotel. I... more
