This was the most awful hotel I have ever stayed in. Rooms were dirty, sheets hadn't been changed (still had make up on the sheets from a previous visitor), the breakfast was greasy and very scary. The glass front door had been smashed overnight. Party in the function room until 1 am. Hugely overpriced. I don't think I can go... more

We booked one night at the Sandringham due to attending a function in Cardiff. There are some positive and negative comments I would like to make. We arrived at the hotel at 10.15 a.m, which is far earlier than the standard check in time of 2 p.m. We had a function to attend at midday and intended to ask the... more

This hotel is old but friendly and comfortable. And with such a fantastic location, you can't go wrong! Staying here I was within walking distance of everyplace I needed to go, and when I wanted to venture out further the bus stops were only a block away. I found the hotel to be clean and the beds to be a... more

I stayed here in November 2008 - following a Rugby match @ the Millennium Stadium. I booked a single room, which would normally cost £50.00 - but because an 'event was on in Cardiff'' the rate was doubled to £100. Even if the cost had been the normal rate - this was poor value for money. The room was dingy... more

Firstly I would like to say that we did not double the normal charge. Our rates fluctuate with the business on a daily basis just as they do with airlines. We aim to remain competitive at all times. I can honestly say that this is the first complaint I have received when a major event has been on. We have...

First the good things- very central- so expect some noise at weekends. Very friendly helpful staff, comfortable bed and super breakfast. Tea and coffee in room and TV fine. Jazz cafe next door was a bonus and very good. BUT didn't expect the standard of decor- in our room tiles coming off the ceiling and paint off the walls. Curtains... more

Firstly I would like to thank the reviewer for appreciating our first class service. As a family run business this is of utmost importance to us. Secondly I am disappointed that the guest did not feel the room was of the standard expected. I admit the ceiling tiles in the bathroom were in need of replacing and this has been...

I was in Cardiff to visit friends and attend the Oasis gig at the Cardiff International Arena. I booked a single room for two nights at £102(total) through venere.com. Arriving on the train at Cardiff central station, I had a five minute walk to the sandringham. Located on st.mary street, the hotel is close to all major attractions, venues, and... more

I have stayed many times over the past 5 years and think it is well worth the 2 ** rating. I have always found the hotel to be clean, the staff extreamly helpful the breakfast great and the rooms comfortable. I have stayed in many supposedly 3-4**** hotel and have not matched the standard of the Sandringham. will be staying... more

My husband and I stayed at Sandringham hotel in mid-September for one night. The hotel has a perfect position for exploring the city center of Cardiff, in fact it is located in the main street, just steps from Cardiff castle. After reading all reviews I was afraid of staying there but the hotel was not so bad as described. The... more
