My partner and I recently stayed at the Sandringham hotel for a week-end. We went to see Bruce Springsteen‘s concert at the Millennium stadium. The location is so convenient, less than 5 minutes walk from the main train and bus station, right in the city centre. About 1 minute walk from the famous Millennium stadium! We had a wonderful time.... more

Not a bad hotel by any means. The Sandringham has a certain charm which is quite clearly lacking in many of todays "chain" hotels. I enjoyed my stay very much and I look forward to seeing the hotel return back to its past glory.... Here are the good points: my room was clean though a little on the small side,... more

I would like to thank this reviewer for the nice comments mentioned. I have noted his points about the choice given when not having a cooked breakfast and will try to improve this. My only critisism of this review is to call St. Mary Street rowdy. We are located amongst bars and restaurants but we are also one minutes walk...

The Sandringham Hotel is a unique place! I visit Cardiff on a regular basis and as a woman solo business traveller I am glad I found this hotel. It is right in the city centre and conveniently only five minutes walking distance from the main train station. The staff are very helpful, professional and extremely friendly. They know how to... more

Stayed at this establishment in march and in all fairness was not expecting a great deal as the price was so cheap, I was expecting however a clean room ......The place looked and felt like what i can only imagine a homeless hostel to be like, how the owners can be proud of what they have to offer in the... more

Our Hotel rooms are graded as two star so the comments are extremely unfair. If the graders felt that this was not the case then we would have a lower star rating. We are a family business and we work extremely hard. We receive many presents from guests who have enjoyed the warm hospitality that we offer. This comment is...

We recently stayed for 1 night (thank goodness it was just the one night!) at this dated hotel and were bitterly disappointed with our overall experience (we wish we had of read trip advisor reviews before booking). Given they are a two star rated hotel; this should not impact on cleanliness and general hygiene of the rooms. After reading other... more

The guest did not complain at the hotel but did leave a completed comment card at reception on departure stating these facts so I was able to investigate the points straight away. Surely if you go into a room that smells of smoke, has clumps of hair on a chair, has a mouldy shower, a carpet that was unhoovered and...

We booked a double room with breakfast through lastminute.com for £68. The hotel staff are really friendly which makes a world of difference. The breakfast was more than we expected; cereal, fruit salad, juice, porridge, toast AND a cooked breakfast (they even cooked me a vegetarian one which I was so pleased with!) The hotel is situated right in the... more

I agree wholeheartedly with the previous reviewer, Brian T Snail. If you take pleasure in a noisy environment and don't mind creaking stairs, stuffy, dirty rooms with peeling wallpaper, stained tread-worn carpets, lumpy old mattresses, dusty surfaces, filthy curtains and windowsills (full of cigarette butts in a non-smoking establishment), smelly drainpipes and a constant traffic din, then you will love... more

Wow Such a disgruntled guest, you would be certain that they have complained direct to the hotel. Sadly they did not which makes me believe this is not true. ALL of our rooms are graded by the AA and Welsh Tourist Board as being of a two star quality. I think we would be closed if this review was true....

Stayed here for 2 nights in July. We had a room at the front of the hotel facing on to the main street. Night noise generally was ok, unfortunately on one night the local road workers decided to dig up the road with a pneumatic drill, starting at 10pm! Not the hotel's fault I know but.... The rooms had what... more

Most street noise is blocked with the secondary glazing as mentioned by the guest. However on this occasion the Council decided to work outside our hotel without prior notice. This is frustrating for us and the guest but is not the fault of the hotel and can happen anywhere. Our net curtains are genuinely grey to block the glare of...

This is a great value hotel in a fantastic location close to the castle and the Millenium Stadium. The town centre is just a few minutes walk away and there's plenty of places to eat and drink in the locality. It's probably in need of a little refurbishment to be fair but the rooms are plenty big enough with clean... more

My husband and I were with a coach party for the rugby league weekend. The hotel was slap bang in the middle of everything, the room was a little in need of modernising but spotlessly clean and even had a trouser press, not needed for the shorts.........there is a bar and restaurant downstairs with good food. beds were comfy, shower powerful,... more
