This was my first visit to Maltsters since the recent renovation. The interior is now modern but keeps a lot of the original charm. Food is ordered at the bar and was served on a slate plate. The beef burger is actually a 'real' burger. It has been made with beef, herbs, spices and stilton. Another plus is home made... More

A group of us went to the Maltsters for lunch on a bank holiday weekend. It was fairly busy there, but by no means full. Service took an age - we waited at least 15 minutes before anyone came to ask us what we wanted to drink; we had to ask to order food and then waited over half an... More

We like the Maltsters but had a very bad meal the other night, the duck was barely edible.

The staff seemd fraught, even thought it was empty when we arrived. Table was reserved for 6.30 and wasn't even ready! Windows extremely drafty, so was cold! took ages to be served for orders, although the wine was quick enough (but don't expect anything other than glasses left in a pile and not served for tasting). Food was good when... More

Booked a table at Maltsters for 6.30pm allowing 2 hours before we needed to meet the guide for the Llandaff Ghost Walk (which is excellent!!) at 8.30pm just across the road at the Cathedral. However even though we arrived on time it was immediately clear that the restaurant was not ready. The table was not laid, it took ages to... More

Went to the Maltsters for Sunday lunch and found the meal very disappointing. The Seabass was overcooked, overpriced and severely undersized, while the diminutive portion of ‘buttered spinach’ was extremely dry and clearly contained no butter. Considerably superior meals are available for a fraction of the price at any local café.

First time at the Maltsters Hotel Llandaff Cardiff, very very nice bedrooms after the refurbishment which has recently taken place. Huge range of beers & spirits in the bar, superb menu presented well ata reasonable price, can be a little slow when busy. Breakfast was good & filled us up for the day! Accommodation was superb, apple computer/tv in the... More
