no car park, doesn't do food on a Monday and Tuesday (or Tuesday and Wednesday after a bank holiday), which is not published on the website when you book, room quality is poor, damp shower, bed uncomfortable, tiny tv, etc etc etc. On a positive the staff are friendly, the restaurant area is ok (no food when I was there... Visited here tonight - August bank holiday Sunday- and there was only 2 other people in the bar. They weren't serving food - apparently they had finished since 6.30. This bar use to be buzzing but now it is like a morgue- couldn't wait to get out of there.. What have done to this place!!!

Stayed during the festival so makes it more difficult for the hotel and it was very cheap. We unfortunately had to wait 40mins for our breakfast though there were only four other people who received theirs before ours; ran out of bread. Room nice but could do with an extra clean and no bed making; replaced goodies in room by... More

We booked in April to stay in the George for a wedding on the 1st August 15. After 2 hours traveling we were told on arrival that they didn't have a room for us. Even though we had email confirmation of our booking. They paid for a room for us in a different hotel (which we had to find ourselves)... More

Dear Matty111 Apologies regarding the missed booking made by yourself in April. I took over as GM in April from a previous manager who did not record your booking on our system nor file it away - so there was no record in the building of this for me to acknowledge. As soon as I was made aware of your... More

We have eaten at the "George" several times, and always had a good meal after a hard days walk. The menu is good, a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. We have never stopped over, but always been impressed by the food.

I stayed here for two nights with a group of colleagues. We ate here twice in the evenings, and the food was pretty good. Breakfasts were generous. Staff were generally pleasant, though I think some found dealing with a large group of us quite stressful. It was pleasant to sit in the courtyard in the evening. The negatives are: I... More

I am sure The George used to brim with charm! Now its very tired, dated and shabby. There are a few signs of updating and the conservatory restaurant is pleasant enough .... but there is far more work to be done!! Please! Call me old fashioned, but I do not like waiting staff to dress in jeans. Parking is a... More

My husband and I stayed here with our 6 month old son on our way to a wedding. We asked for a family room, which was huge, the room needs some decorating. The breakfast was lovely and the service was good.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who really made us feel at home straight away. He ran us through the usual stuff (fire exits, breakfast, bar location etc). before showing us the room. First impressions of the hotel were great; the bar was modern and light, the restaurant looked really clean and... More

Arrived at the hotel to be told they had double booked me (even though I booked over 3 months in advance) so said for me to go to a different hotel in Brecon. The other hotel weren't aware of this so when I checked out they wanted to charge their rates - £20 more. The George tried to refuse to... More
