Had Sunday lunch here today. .. bar staff very friendly and helpful. . We had pate to start and then the roast beef for our main. The beef was very tough everything else fine, I did tell the barman/waiter he apologised and basically that was it. The atmosphere here was rather dull no background music just a few other customers... More

We were passing, and saw people eating outside, so popped in for lunch. Unfortunately we were a minute late for the full menu (The bar person had an order to take in for another customer from the full menu but returned saying it was too late - thanks Chef!) so had to make do with the sandwich menu. I must... More

We stayed as a family party with 7 adults & 2 young children in 4 rooms. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, 3 doubles and another with a double and single bed. We arrived on Friday evening and had our meal in the courtyard. The food was outstanding though a tad expensive. Generous servings of very tasty food....lots of... More

Eaten at the George many times and have always found the staff to be excellent. The manager Les always makes you feel welcome and the rest of the staff all seem to work together as a team. Food was good as usual and couldn't fault anything. If it's true that Les is leaving then I think the George will be... More

The Hotel was not quite up to our expectations. It looked great on the internet. Our room was located in another building next to the main hotel. Whilst the room was very large, it was also very "tired" looking.

We had booked two nights (in late May this year) but extended to three, partly because it was a good location to explore not only the national park but also to make excursions to Hay-on-Wye and up to Knighton to look at some pretty impressive remnants of Offa's Dyke and visit the museum. But we would not have done so... More

We stopped off in Brecon on our way back to The Midlands. We were looking for a place to eat with our 7yr old daughter and stumbled upon The George. Staff were very welcoming and we asked if we could have a table. This was no problem. We ordered drinks and food. Food arrived very quickly but upon inspection of... More

From recent reviews we were unexpectedly pleased with the accomodation & breakfast (we did not eat there in the evening) We stayed in room 6 after having the choice of 3 rooms and again could not see what others complained about. We are normally critical ourselves if a hotel is not up to standard. The room was large and the... More

A lovely place to meet and chat with friends, good beer, and the food is excellent as well... Have to add more - so - I go there often because it is a good and relaxing place to enjoy - especially when it has gigs playing there...
